The hood will be very handy in unexpected rain or wind. There's no closure for the hood, so it's one you will have to hang onto in wind.

I'm 5'4" and this hits me right above my knees. The body of the coat fits perfectly with room for a sweater underneath. I will never use the waist cable, but it's there if you like a cinched waist.
