I was 14 and telling the first therapist I’d ever seen about my brother’s suicide. She proceeded to tell me that ‘suicide is a slap in God’s face.’
I didn’t go back.
To put it simply as my father was my first introduction to men.
He taught me that men cannot be trusted, men are dangerous and men are cruel.
Obviously I know that’s not true of every man. But that fear is still deeply ingrained in me.
