Agreed... I do think lots of cities are becoming wayyy too expensive and gentrified (NYC is insane right now) but at $130k? You definitely can afford to live and enjoy yourself. I have sympathy for the people who make way less than that and have to find ways to manage
I love when people brag about their affordable apartments, as if there aren't a million factors that go into it. If you lived in Boston maybe your comment would make sense, but you're comparing two completely different things
IMO, if you work a full-time job, you arguably should make enough to be able to live alone in your area. Roommates or moving back home should be a way to save money, not a default way to live. But at some point, it became the norm. There's already signs that the middle class is disappearing...…Â

Also you can live in an expensive city and still complain that it's too expensive. I will say that if you're making $130k though, you should be able to manage
