20 Celebrity Couples Who Called It Quits And 21 Who Started Dating In 2021 (So Far)

From Bennifer to Kimye, we've got it all.

Let's face it, 2021 has been one hell of a year...and we've still got THREE more damn months to go.

And in the midst of the chaos, we lost some of our wildest celebrity relationships (I'm looking at you, Grimes and Elon) but luckily, gained some new — but technically old — faves too (Bennifer, anyone?).

So, without further ado, let's take a little trip back down memory lane and reminisce about some of the celeb relationships we lost and gained so far in 2021.

1. Kim Kardashian and Kanye West filed for divorce back in February after seven years of marriage.

Kim later shared on Keeping Up with the Kardashians that she wanted a partner to be present for "smaller experiences" and she didn't want "a husband that lives in a completely different state."

2. Elon Musk and Grimes have just recently semi-separated, but they still live in the same house with their son, X Æ A-Xii.

Elon shared, "It’s mostly that my work at SpaceX and Tesla requires me to be primarily in Texas or traveling overseas, and her work is primarily in LA. She’s staying with me now, and Baby X is in the adjacent room."

3. Pete Davidson and Phoebe Dynevor broke up this summer after dating for about five months.

At the time, Pete was filming his new rom-com Meet Cute in NYC, and Phoebe was back in London filming Bridgerton Season 2.

4. Kaley Cuoco and Karl Cook "suddenly" split after almost five years together.

In a joint statement, they said, "Despite a deep love and respect for one another, we have realized that our current paths have taken us in opposite directions. We have both shared so much of our journey publicly so while we would prefer to keep this aspect of our personal life private, we wanted to be forthcoming in our truth together. There is no anger or animosity, quite the contrary." Fans have also theorized that Kaley has actually started a relationship with her Meet Cute costar, Pete Davidson. 

5. Scott Disick and Amelia Hamlin ended things shortly after Scott's IG DM fiasco.

Amelia's mother, Lisa Rinna, seemed to be thrilled. At the start of their relationship, she even said, "It's a 'what the fuck' moment. You’re like, 'What the fuck?' She’s 19. He’s 37 with three kids."

6. La La and Carmelo Anthony broke up in June after nearly 16 years together.

A source told Us Weekly, "They have been separated for a while now and will remain friends. They both want to make sure that the divorce goes as smoothly as possible for their son."

7. Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez broke off their engagement in April.

In a joint statement, they shared, "We have realized we are better as friends and look forward to remaining so. We will continue to work together and support each other on our shared businesses and projects."

8. John Mulaney filed for divorce from Anna Marie Tendler after six years of marriage.

The news came out shortly after John's return to standup, following a stint in rehab for alcohol and drug abuse. 

9. Bill and Melinda Gates finalized their divorce this summer after being married for 27 years.

Their joint statement read, "We have raised three incredible children and built a foundation that works all over the world to enable all people to lead healthy, productive lives. We continue to share a belief in that mission and will continue our work together at the foundation, but we no longer believe we can grow together as a couple in this next phase of our lives." 

10. Jason Segel and Alexis Mixter ended their relationship after eight years together.

In an Instagram announcement, Alexis said, "I’ve never spent so much time with another person, grown so much alongside someone else, laughed so much, cried so much, shared so much. It is odd to write about the end of a relationship, especially when the friendship that still exists is so full of life. But change happens and we made the decision quite a while ago to let ourselves grow away from what our relationship had been and into what it was becoming."

11. Zac Efron and Vanessa Valladares called it quits after about 10 months of dating.

Kyle Sandilands, a friend of Zac's, shared, "I can also confirm after speaking with him yesterday. Because I heard the rumors...they've gone their separate ways. [There was] no drama. It's done. He's back to work."

12. Addison Rae and Bryce Hall split up back in April following rumors that Bryce cheated on her.

On Twitter, Bryce said he "didn’t cheat on Addison." A source later told Us Weekly, "Addison broke up with Bryce. She feels that he has a lot of growing up to do and that he brings too much drama into her life. They’re so on and off though, so don’t be surprised if they get back together at some point.”

13. Saweetie and Quavo ended things in March after taking their breakup public on Twitter.

A source recently told Hollywood Life, "Saweetie and Quavo are currently both in New York and have quietly been spending time together on the DL. Quavo has missed Saweetie since they broke up and he’s been asking to see her. Apparently, she gave in because they linked up in NY and have hung out since they’re both there at the same time." However, Saweetie has denied the rumors. 

14. Zoë Kravitz and Karl Glusman announced their split in January after 18 months of marriage.

Zoë's reps confirmed the breakup after People obtained court records claiming that Zoë filed for divorce in December 2020.

15. Rebel Wilson and Jacob Busch split up in February, four months after they made their relationship IG official.

In an interview with Extra, she said, "I feel like, I don't know if it's turning 40 or coming into your own…I feel in a really good place. Any kind of breakup is hard and not ideal."

16. Ashley Benson and G-Eazy broke up in February after dating for less than a year.

Neither has said much about the breakup, but a source told E! News, "Ashley didn't like the way he was acting around her. The vibe has just been off. She told him that it's over. She felt he hadn't been fully committed to her."

17. Khloé Kardashian and Tristan Thompson broke up again after more cheating rumors came to light.

A source told E! News, "They had been working through the cheating rumors for the last couple of weeks, but Khloé told Tristan he lost all of her trust and the relationship could not be repaired."

18. Katie Holmes and Emilio Vitolo ended things in May after first being spotted together in fall 2020.

A source told People, "They split several weeks ago. There was no drama. It was amazing while it lasted, but they are at very different places in life. Emilio has no hard feelings. His life is in NYC. Katie can't wait to get back to work and to travel again."

19. Jason Derulo and Jena Frumes broke up just four months after having a child also named Jason Derulo.

In a tweet that has since been deleted, Jason said, "Jena and I have decided to part ways. She is an amazing mother but we feel being apart at this time will allow us to be the best versions of ourselves and the best parents we could be. Pls respect our privacy in this time."

20. And our favorite quarantine couple, Ben Affleck and Ana de Armas, called it off in January after almost a year of dating.

A source told People the breakup was "mutual and...completely amicable. They are in different points in their lives; there is deep love and respect there. Ben continues to want to work on himself. He has three jobs lined up and he's a solid father at home. They are both happy with where they are in their lives."

21. Rita Ora and Taika Waititi made their relationship red carpet official at the Suicide Squad premiere in August.

Over the summer, the two had been spotted several times together in Australia, including the moment where the paparazzi caught Taika, Rita, and Tessa Thompson making out on his balcony. 

22. Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck rekindled their romance after nearly 17 years apart.

They made their relationship red carpet official in September at the Venice Film Festival. In an interview with Adweek, Ben even gushed, "I am in awe of what Jennifer’s effect on the world is."

23. Olivia Rodrigo and Adam Faze seemingly confirmed their relationship in July after they attended the Space Jam: A New Legacy premiere together and were photographed kissing.

A source told E! News, "[They] met through industry friends. It's only been a few months, but she seems really happy with him and they are definitely dating exclusively and getting serious."

24. Zendaya and Tom Holland confirmed their relationship in July when paparazzi photos of them kissing surfaced.

They low-key made their relationship IG official on Zendaya's birthday when Tom posted a photo of them captioned, "My MJ, have the happiest of birthdays. Gimme a call when your [sic] up xxx" and she replied, "Calling now❤️." 

25. Renée Zellweger and Ant Anstead made their relationship IG official in September after rumors of their relationship began in July.

In an IG post of the two hugging, Ant said, "OMG!! So cute!! And I though [sic] Mercy & me were the cutest couple!!"

26. Ana de Armas started dating Tinder VP Paul Boukadakis earlier this year.

A source told Page Six, "Paul and Ana were introduced through friends. He is based in Austin, but splits his time between Texas and Santa Monica. He has been spending a lot of time with Ana before she left the US to film her new movie."

27. Lena Dunham and Luis Felber first confirmed their relationship back in April and announced they just got married in September.

On Luis's birthday, Lena posted, "Everyone who comes into contact with you — creatively, emotionally, accidentally — is lucky. But I am the luckiest because that snood is now in our shared chest of drawers."

28. John Mulaney and Olivia Munn were rumored to be dating earlier this year, and in September, John officially announced that they're expecting a baby.

John told close friend Seth Meyers, "Olivia and this baby have helped save me from myself in this early journey out of recovery."

29. Henry Cavill and Natalie Viscuso went public with their relationship earlier this year.

For their first public IG posts, Henry wrote, "This is me looking quietly confident shortly before my beautiful and brilliant love Natalie, destroys me at chess." Natalie said, "Just teaching my dear Henry how to play some chess...or...maybe he let me win?"

30. Zoë Kravitz and Channing Tatum have been rumored to be dating since the summer after meeting while working on Zoë's new film, Pussy Island.

Channing also stars in the film, which is Zoë's directorial debut. They've since been spotted multiple times in NYC and were photographed leaving the Met Gala together. Channing and Zoë's father, Lenny, even shared a little joke on Instagram about their abs.

31. JoJo Siwa publicly announced she was dating Kylie Prew earlier this year when she came out as a member of the LGBTQ community.

JoJo said that when she first asked out Kylie, she had "a whole musical number" planned. She said, "It was magical, amazing, anyways… I did like 10 run-throughs because I had to get the nerves out."

32. Chrishell Stause and Jason Oppenheim became red carpet and IG official in July, but they revealed they'd started dating several weeks prior.

Chrishell told E! News, "It's just one of those things. You don't want to share with everybody and get all their opinions before you really know what it is. We really were really private and secretive for as long as we could until we realized the walls were closing in. People were getting a little savvy to it."

33. Aaron Rodgers and Shailene Woodley confirmed they were engaged in February after keeping the majority of their relationship a secret for months.

Shailene told Jimmy Fallon, "I mean, I’ve been reading that too [that I’m engaged to Aaron Rodgers], it’s kind of funny. Yes, we are engaged, we are engaged. But for us, it’s not new news, you know, so it’s kind of funny, everybody right now is freaking out over it, and we’re like, yeah, we’ve been engaged for a while. Yeah, we got engaged a while ago. 34. Avril Lavigne and Mod Sun recently made their red carpet debut at the VMAs after releasing the song "Flames" together.

35. Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker confirmed their relationship on Instagram after weeks of speculation they were dating.

They've since shared several photos together and made their red carpet debut at the VMAs in September. Travis even took his first plane ride — since his 2008 plane crash — with Kourtney and shared a photo saying, "With you anything is possible."

36. Addison Rae and music producer Omer Fedi confirmed their relationship in August.

Soon after Addison's movie, He's All That, and Omer's song, "Stay," reached number one on their respective platforms, Omer said, "Me and my baby are both number 1 atm. I'm so so so proud of her."

37. Michael B. Jordan and Lori Harvey announced their relationship publicly at the beginning of 2021 and have been going strong since.

38. Megan Thee Stallion and Pardison Fontaine confirmed their relationship in February during an IG Live video with fans.

In the IG Live, Megan said, "I don't be liking some of the stuff on the internet. People don't know what the hell they talking about, they just be saying anything. I didn't like what they was trying to say about Pardi because he is so calm and so sweet. That's my boo, and I really like him. Y'all not about to play with my man. He don't even be doing nothing to nobody. Yeah, he my boyfriend."

39. Drake and Johanna Leia seemed to confirm their relationship in July after they were spotted having dinner inside Dodger Stadium.

Drake has also become close with Johanna's son, Amari, who's already set to play basketball at UCLA next year.

40. Kacey Musgraves and Cole Schafer went IG official in August after being rumored to be dating months prior.

41. Finally, Millie Bobby Brown and John Bon Jovi's son, Jake Bongiovi, sparked dating rumors earlier this summer.
