Not all modern bananas. The bananas commercially produced and sold in most western supermarkets. In much of the world (and even sometimes in the US), in farmers markets, you get a variety of wonderful tasting and textured bananas.
Our 8! ( yes that’s right) are
Girls: Amora ( her shelter name we kept), Noor (who is jet blank, a play on noir, and Umbra, who is smoky grey.
Boys: Tzu, Pott, Yoda (he does look like Yoda), Jintao, MiniPott.
I remember my mom and aunt telling my cousin and I ( we were like 13 and 15) how lucky we were, that in their days they had to wear cloths, then pads with safety pins and these belts. Of course then we could not relate to what they were talking about!
Some of the most delicious tasting vegetables (among the best cassava, breadfruit, habanero) I had were in Haiti. I guess because they did not use any synthetic chemicals or fertilizers and the crops were grown in rich soil.
