I haven’t seen anyone shipping Thor and Captain Marvel personally. I have seen a lot of Captain Marvel and Valkyrie shipping. I think ppl are just more interested in a wlw relationship for Valkyrie since she’s the first (I think?) hint at a queer woman in the MCU.
I’m putting down this specific argument that I find lazy. I totally agree that being atheist is a completely valid reason to not believe in soulmates. And I’m sure there’s a myriad of other good arguments out there.
I never said that’s the only reason people don’t believe in soulmates, I said that’s an argument most people use and it’s not a good one. I’m pretty meh on God and thus pretty meh on soulmates.
Just sort of seems like something ppl rail against to seem smarter than ppl who believe in soulmates, when they never actually thought through their argument at all.

There’s a difference between gaining all your self worth from your significant other and a significant other helping build your confidence up. She seems to be describing the latter as others have pointed out, and that kind of thing will last even after a breakup.
