19 Pop Culture Moments This Week That Truly Destabilized Me To My Core

Sunday scaries (aka, celeb social dumps)!

It was the Euphoria of Sundays and the Super Bowl of Sundays, which is to say this week in pop culture was chaotic as all hell. Here's your rundown of what you missed:

    1. Fortunately, (and unfortunately for some, depending on who you are), Oscars discourse has officially begun as nominations were announced early this week. Some of the highlights include: a snub for Lady Gaga, a first for Kristen Stewart, and a Valentine's Day-worthy pair nomination for power couple Jesse Plemons and Kirsten Dunst.

    2. Kylie Jenner and Travis Scott welcomed their second child, named Wolf, on "2/2/22" — obviously because it is more aesthetically pleasing than, say, 2/1/22 or 2/3/22. And yes, before you ask, people have jokes on jokes about that particular name.

    3. Just a day earlier, rapper Eve and her husband, Maximillion Cooper, welcomed their first child, named Wilde Wolf Fife Alexander Somers Cooper. "Words can't describe this feeling," she wrote on Instagram.

    4. Meanwhile, Shay Mitchell announced that she's expecting her second child with partner Matte Babel. In a heartfelt Instagram post, she celebrated the pregnancy and mourned the recent loss of her grandmother. "Saying goodbye to a loved one while simultaneously experiencing the joy of welcoming another into this world is the great cycle of life," she wrote.

    5. In some more baby news, Ashley Graham shared the first photos and names of her and filmmaker husband Justin Ervin's twins, Malachi and Roman. "My boys have been the greatest teachers and biggest reminders that I can do hard things," she wrote. "This has not been easy, but it’s so worth it." Her older son, Isaac, is 2 years old.

    6. In some Olympics highlights: Figure skater Nathan Chen dominated at the men's event, winning gold for the US for the first time since 2010. Chloe Kim defended her title in halfpipe snowboarding, and Shaun White capped off his legendary career with a fourth-place finish.

    7. Speaking of Olympics...after comedian Leslie Jones alleged that NBC was blocking and "fighting" against her extremely popular live commentary videos of the Games, the network responded that it was a result of a "third-party error" that has since been "resolved."

    8. On the topic of beef, Ye — who has been incessantly posting recently — called out Billie Eilish for supposedly dissing Travis Scott at a recent show, where she stopped to help a concertgoer with asthma, saying, "I wait for people to be OK until I keep going." He demanded an apology and also threatened to pull out of Coachella, which both of them are headlining. In response, she commented, "Literally never said a thing about Travis. Was just helping a fan."

    9. And, in other Ye news, the rapper and Julia Fox are reportedly hitting the breaks on their romance, despite the fact that the actor shut down breakup rumors. The update comes amid Ye's highly publicized spat with Kim Kardashian, which in turn comes amid his highly publicized plea to God to get them back together.

    10. What's more, Ye insinuated Pete Davidson should "thank" him for allowing him to "have" Kim in new song lyrics, which is all kinds of misogynistic and weird. He also launched a social media attack on Kid Cudi for being friends with Pete, and continued to berate the latter on social media.

    11. Euphoria stars Hunter Schafer and Dominic Fike's romance isn't just heating up on the small screen it seems. The actor and indie singer look to be together, according to a smooch they recently shared on the latter's Instagram story. The pair has had Twitter in a tizzy for about a month now, dating back to when they were spotted leaving a restaurant hand in hand.

    12. Which brings me to...No. 1 Zendaya stan Tom Holland admitted he tried to use a VPN to watch his best girl — his MJ, if you will — be amazing and talented on Euphoria while in Spain. Because what else would you expect from Tom "visited the Euphoria set 30 times" Holland? I love love, and I love them!

    13. And about that episode Tom was trying to watch? After DARE — an anti-drug organization that itself hasn't had a great track recordcriticized Euphoria for choosing to "misguidedly glorify" drug use, Zendaya defended the show's depiction of addiction, saying it is "in no way a moral tale to teach people how to live their life or what they should be doing."

    14. Adele dazzled in her first red carpet appearance in years at the 2022 Brit Awards — and it wasn't just her awards sweep or beautiful Giorgio Armani gown that had people talking. The singer-songwriter also wore a large diamond ring, sparking engagement rumors to boyfriend Rich Paul.

    15. The trailer for Jordan Peele's new sci-fi horror film is finally here. Starring Keke Palmer, Steven Yeun, Daniel Kaluuya, and Barbie Ferreira, the movie follows a group of residents in an isolated California town who bear witness to an unexplainable event. Coming July 22, the flick might be called Nope, but everything about it has me saying, "Yes"!

    16. Naomi Campbell liked an Instagram post that called out Kim Kardashian for Blackfishing in her latest Vogue cover, where she was photographed in similar poses to prior Black cover stars like Beyoncé and Naomi herself. "Kim and Vogue said 'Black History Month,'" the caption of Diet Prada's post read.

    17. Robert Pattinson stans ate well this week: The Batman star explicitly admitted for the first time that he casually lies in interviews "in order to say anything at all." But we think his story about almost being fired from Twilight for wanting to make it "too emo" is definitely true.

    18. In an interesting turn of events, Nick Cannon was gifted a vending machine of Magnum condoms for Valentine's Day. "Looks like somebody just sent me an early Valentine’s Day gift!!" the comedian captioned his Instagram post. It remains to be seen if he will actually use them!

    19. After weeks of fan speculation, Ed Sheeran revealed that he and Taylor Swift are reuniting to release a remix of his song "The Joker and the Queen." The song, which he briefly teased on Instagram, was released this week.
