Response to 23 Afghan Hounds That Are More Glam Than You:
My great aunt had several afghans throughout her life. While they are beautiful dogs, they are not exactly the brightest. She alson insisted that they “had” to have their hair cut the way that it is in these pictures. Such a mess to take care of. When she passed away and her husband was in failing health, we babysat their afghan and he was in need of a grooming. My mom ended up getting him a great hair cut—no more hair hanging off of his body for no reason (he was never a show dog anyway) . He didn’t need his ears tied back so he could eat and he could run around without getting his hair tangled in anything. We had never seen him so happy before, not even when he was a puppy! Give these dogs a good hair cut if you want them to actually be happy and not just an object to be admired.
