Here Are 75 One Direction Songs Ranked By Niall Horan's Vocal Parts

Best Lyric: "Oh I wish I could be more like you. Do you wish you could be more like me?"

Again, that's the solo. Over and over and over again. Boring.

Best Lyric: "I wanna put it on my record, I want everyone to know now."

This solo is only two lines long, and they're super auto-tuned. Next.

Best Lyric: "It hurts me to think that you've ever cried."

Not gonna lie, I've always liked the way he said this line. But other than that, boring and forgettable.

Best Lyric: "Baby if you say you want me to stay, I'll change my mind."

Niall had a lot of one-line solos in the early 1D days, which is a disgrace, and they're just very blah.

Best Lyric: "We're on fire, we are on fire, we're on fire now."

"Happily" is a fun song, but Niall's solo is short, boring, and doesn't live up to the rest of the song.

Best Lyric: "No, we don't ever grow up."

This song is a JAM and brings me back to the OTRA stadium tour. It really is a crime that Niall got the most boring part of the song.

Best Lyric: "With no way out and a long way down, everybody needs someone around."

Liam's vocals really thrive in this song and Niall just sounds kind of bad following him.

Best Lyric: "I like the way you smile with your eyes."

Cute, but forgettable.

Best Lyric: "Who's gonna be the first one to fall asleep at night?"

Niall's solo is as boring as the rest of the song.

Best Lyric: "The one that I came with, didn't know how to move."

This whole song really is complete trash. But Niall is just straight up talking shit about his date for like, no reason.

Best Lyric: "Words will be just words until you bring them to life."

This song is a banger (WHY wasn't it released in the US?!). But unfortunately Niall got stuck with another pre-chorus one-liner.

Best Lyric: "Wasn't ready to hear you say goodbye."

All I'm gonna say is that if a dude told me "you're so pretty when you cry", I would probably just want to hit him.

Best Lyric: "Not even the bad guys in the dark night could take it all away."

One word to describe this song: YAWN. And Niall's part is not exempt.

Best Lyric: "Your secret tattoo, the way you change moods, the songs that you sing when you're all alone."

For some reason, this song just gives me some weird vibes. I don't like it. And while I like Niall's vocals during this solo, I'm not a fan of the lyrics.

Best Lyric: "How could someone mislead you at all?"

Snooze.

Best Lyric: "Wanna wake up and see your face and remember how good it was being here last night."

Look, I'm just gonna say it: I think "Home" is overrated. I'm sorry. In theory, these are sweet lyrics and I like them, but in execution it falls flat.

Best Lyric: "I'm sorry if I say I need you, but I don't care, I'm not scared of love."

While I like hearing Niall's vocals in a stripped-down chorus, it doesn't stand out among other solos when we've already heard those lyrics several times throughout the song already.

Best Lyric: "I know that I won't be on my own."

I don't HATE this solo, but I don't necessarily like it either.

Best Lyric: "Everything else just fades away."

Just another mediocre pre-chorus.

Best Lyric: "Right now I'm completely defenseless."

I love this song but there just isn't anything special to me about Niall's solo.

Best Lyric: "Ow!"

Does anyone else remember those rumors on Twitter that Niall threatened to quit the band if he didn't get to sing the "ow!"s on this song? Anyways, this song is a bop, but other than "ow!" Niall has one line. I do like the way his voice sounds in it, though.

Best Lyric: "I'll come back to you, and I'll be here for you."

This is one of my all time favorite One Direction songs, but Niall's solo just doesn't quite stand up to the rest of the song.

Best Lyric: "I've been waiting all this time to finally say it."

Nothing terrible about this, but also nothing great.

Best Lyric: "Baby tell me would it change, I'm afraid you'll run away."

This song as a whole is sweet, but pretty mediocre. And Niall's solo fits right in.

Best Lyric: "But it's not the end, I'll see your face again.""

While it might not be the most memorable solo, there's something comforting about the way he sings it.

Best Lyric: "Hit the pedal, heavy metal."

This song was definitely my jam back in 2012. And it's cool to see Niall have a solo chorus, but unfortunately, the chorus of Rock Me is by far not the strongest part of the song and not one of their best choruses.

Best Lyric: "The truth is I got lost without you."

This song is so cliché. But still sweet.

Best Lyric: "Maybe she's just tryin to test me, wanna see how hard I'm gonna work."

I just really like the way he sings this.

Best Lyric: "I keep talking, begging, tell me what I wanna hear."

This is one of my guilty pleasure 1D bops and Niall's part has always been my favorite for some reason. I just like when he sings fast like that.

Best Lyric: "I want to write you a song, one to make your heart remember me. So any time I'm gone, you can listen to my voice and sing along."

Such a sweet ending to a sweet song. My heart melts.

Best Lyric: "I tried to ask myself, 'should I see someone else?'"

There's honestly not much special about this, but for some reason I like it.

Best Lyric: "The script was written and I could not change a thing."

I've never really been a fan of this song, but I do like the lyrics in Niall's solo. Breaks my heart.

Best Lyric: "Built a cathedral, but we never prayed."

Another song that I've never really liked too much but that Niall's part kind of saves it for me.

Best Lyric: "It's like I'm frozen but the world still turns."

I love the lyrics of this song, especially Niall's part.

Best Lyric: "Pray we stay young, stay made of lightning."

This is definitely one of my very favorite 1D songs. The lyrics are kind of nonsensical and repetitive, but Niall definitely says "almighty" and "lightning" better than Harry and Louis do.

Best Lyric: "Love can be frightening for sure."

It's not the best part of the song (hello, Harry's solo), but for some reason I will always love that lyric and the way he sings it.

Best Lyric: "Yeah I fell for you."

Usually I would not like a pre-chorus this much, but the way he says "Yeah I fell for you!" makes me feel things.

Best Lyric: "These shades can hide us from the streets yeah."

This is an underrated bop. And while there might not be anything special about this solo lyrically, I just really like the way he sings it and the music.

Best Lyric: "You're the truth I can't explain, you're the only one I see."

Personally, my favorite part of this song is the very beginning but Niall's solo bridge is definitely a very close second.

Best Lyric: "You're the shining distraction that makes me fly home."

Look, I really do not like this song at all. Overall it is very boring. I do, however, love this one lyric.

Best Lyric: "Unless of course I stay on course and keep you next to me."

Okay so rhyming course with course isn't anything groundbreaking but I just LOVE the calming, sweet way he sings this solo.

Best Lyric: "Your beauty could start a war as you walk in the door."

I am a Wolves stan and I will not stand for the fans who hate it. It's a bop and the lyrics are really cute, and Niall's part is absolutely no exception.

Best Lyric: "I'm just the underdog who finally got the girl."

This song is the CUTEST. And I'm a sucker for Niall being the cute, kinda insecure lil underdog.

Best Lyric: "We took a chonce."

If you think I only ranked this song in my top 20 Niall solos because of the way he says "chonce" then you are absolutely right.

Best Lyric: "Lips so good I forget my name."

It's crazy that a pre-chorus ended up in the top 20 but I have been obsessed with this line since the first time I heard it. I just love it.

Best Lyric: "I'm feeling something deep inside, hotter than a jet stream burning up."

I've seen a lot of people say they think this line is a weird simile, but personally it's my favorite line of a criminally under-appreciated song.

Best Lyric: "Living out of cases, packing up and taking off."

Can I relate to this song? No. Is it incredibly cliché? Yes. Do I still love Niall's line that is both cliché and unrelatable to me? Absolutely.

Best Lyric: "My judgment's clouded like tonight's sky."

14-year-old me scream-cried along to this song and 22-year-old me does the same thing. Every single part of this song is great. (Thank you, Ed Sheeran.)

Best Lyric: "I whispered something in her ear that I just can't repeat."

I feel like this is an unpopular opinion but I stan this song. It's basically about their therapist saying it's okay to be sleep around and it's woke AF. And Niall's part is by far the greatest part of the song. I love that fast singing.

Best Lyrics: "Break these clocks, forget about time."

God, this song is so good. Niall's voice sounds so chill and calming while he sings this.

Best Lyric: "Hole in the middle of my heart like a polo."

Every single line of this song is good. Hands down one of the best songs One Direction has ever had and that's why, despite Niall being outshone by both Harry and Zayn's solos, it made top ten.

Best Lyric: "Every kiss it gets a little sweeter."

Ready for a controversial opinion? I don't love this song. It's one of those songs where I actually love the lyrics and the idea of the song, but I get bored listening to it. That being said, I still think it's a technically good song and I really do like the way Niall sounds and the lyrics here.

Best Lyric: "All the rest of my crimes don't come close to the look on your face when I let you go."

This is another very underrated song. Being one of Niall's longest solos and a rare occurrence of him singing an entire verse, it was hard to pick my favorite lyric from this solo.

Best Lyric: "I don't want you to be the one that got away, I wanna get addicted to you."

This song is GROSS. I hate it. But, if it was just 3 minutes of Niall's bridge on loop, I would LOVE it. The fast and breathy way he sings it is awesome, and the lyrics are 200% better than the lyrics in the rest of the song.

Best Lyric: "Reality ruined my life."

This song is a bop! I will always love this solo. From the cute, sad little lyrics to the random noises in the background, it's a fun solo. I'll never forget people saying on Twitter that it has the most relatable lyrics of any One Direction song.

Best Lyric: "If you're not hooked on anything right now I can be your vice."

That fast singing! SWOON. Sure, it's not as good as Harry's solo, but it's still SO GOOD. I absolutely love this song and everything about it and I love everything about Niall's opening solo.

Best Lyric: "This isn't the stain of a red wine, I'm bleeding love."

Niall really thrives in this song. He starts it out with a whole verse AND the pre-chorus and he sounds amazing. That "I love I love I love Olivia" at the end of the solo gets me every time. The fast, deep singing is just so hot and the lyrics are great, too.
