13 Details From The "Black Widow" Teaser Trailer That We Have To Discuss Right Now

"I used to have nothing. And then I got this. This job. This family. But nothing lasts forever."

It has been nearly five months since Spider-Man: Far From Home was released aka the last time we got a new Marvel Cinematic Universe movie.

But now we officially have our first look at Black Widow, the Marvel movie that will kick off a new phase of the MCU.

Natasha Romanoff aka Black Widow was introduced a decade ago in Iron Man 2 and it has taken this long to finally get her origin story.

So, here are some details from the first teaser trailer that I need to talk about right now:

    1. First, we get an overview shot of Budapest, which has been hinted at in past MCU movies — it's an important place for both Natasha and Clint.

    2. Black Widow will take place between Captain America: Civil War and Infinity War, so when Natasha talks about family we only see scenes from Iron Man 2 until Civil War.

    3. Also, Natasha's voiceover in the beginning includes part of her speech from Avengers: Endgame.

    4. Black Widow will also feature flashbacks, which include a young General Thaddeus Ross — William Hurt will be digitally aged down like Samuel L. Jackson was in Captain Marvel.

    5. Florence Pugh will play Yelena, who is a "sister figure" to Natasha.

    6. In this flashback, Natasha is wearing what is likely her first Black Widow suit.

    7. Melina, played by Rachel Weisz, is wearing the same outfit, so it's likely the Black Widow suit given to you at the Red Room Academy.

    8. Later, Yelena and Natasha appear to make a trip to where Natasha was trained to be a Black Widow assassin — this appears to be one of the Red Rooms.

    9. Remember, in Avengers: Age of Ultron, Natasha first mentioned the Red Room when she talked to Bruce about her past.

    10. We see Natasha in a white Black Widow suit, which comes directly from the Marvel comics — in the comics, Black Widow's fight with the Icepick Protocols in Russia required the white suit.

    11. The trailer gives us our first look at Taskmaster, the villain Black Widow and her team will be fighting.

    12. Taskmaster has the ability to memorize and mimic his opponents's physical movements, which we see when he fights Alexei aka The Red Guardian, who is played by David Harbour.

    13. And finally, just a behind-the-scenes detail, Black Widow was directed by Cate Shortland, making her the first solo female director of an MCU movie.

Black Widow will hit theaters on May 1, 2020.
