29 Ways To Make Spring Suck Less

Don't @ me, but spring is the worst season of them all.

    1. Master the art of layering to make the most of your spring jackets without freezing — I know you're tired of wearing your winter coats anyway.

    2. Bring back the fun of jumping around in puddles in a pair of classic Hunter rain boots. No matter how big the splash, your tootsies (and shins) will stay dry.

    3. And for those days when a pair of knee-height boots is simply TOO MUCH, slide on a pair of rubber Chelsea boots. They're professional enough for the office, stylish enough for dinner out, and won't make you overheat when you're inside.

    4. The fact that it stays longer in the evenings is great, but the sun coming out at 5 a.m.? Not so much. Hang some blackout curtains in the color of your choice to keep those rays from letting you get your morning beauty sleep.

    5. Forget the adage "April showers bring May flowers" — they mostly bring uncontrollable frizz. ~Smooth things over~ with John Frieda's Secret Weapon touch-up cream; it works on all hair types (curly! straight! whatever!) and helps extend your hairdo, even if you get caught in a storm.

    6. Build up your lashes' volume and length without getting that annoying raccoon eye smudging. L'Oreal's Lash Paradise mascara outlasts allergic, watery eyes or the most humid days — ~no sweat~!

    7. I'm sorry to say this, but it's time for spring cleaning. Master the basics you should probably already know by now to make things so much easier. Like, did you know dryer sheets can keep your baseboards dust-free? Now ya do!

    8. But spring cleaning shouldn't mean scrubbing all day every day. Squeeze on a mold & mildew removing gel, because you don't need to get your whole shower redone when this is in your life. Just squeeze out and let this non-drip gel work its magic overnight — NO s c r u b b i n g.

    9. Pollen sucks. Soothe your itchy, puffy, irritated eyes and pop one of these gel-filled masks in the fridge for a few minutes. It has a gel ball–side and a plush side so you can customize your cooling level!

    10. Give your allergy-suffering sinus system a dang break when at home; turn on a UV-free air filter that can get rid of over 99% of airborne dust, pollen, mold, smoke, and pet dander.

    11. And for more allergy relief, change your morning showers to evening showers — getting the pollen off your bod and out of your hair right when you get home is best (bye bye nighttime sneezes!).

    12. Those little 10-tissue packs you're used to are NOT big enough for peak allergy season. Try these Kleenex to-go packs, which attach to your car seat, purse, backpack, etc. and are filled with 30 soft 'n' plush tissues to keep your sad nose from getting irritated.

    13. Pop on a transparent raincoat so you can show off your outfit, because your #ootd game can't be stopped by the weather.

    14. Or throw on a shorter, lightweight waterproof windbreaker to protect your favorite top from the precipitaysh (and add a fun dose of color) when it starts to get warmer.

    15. Change your rain game and ditch your regular umbrella for an inverting umbrella: it closes backwards, so you don't get those water droplets all over your bag or home. Plus, it has a hands-free handle you can loop over your wrist, because your hands have other shit to do (looking at you, carrying groceries).

    16. Swap your bulky boots for a pair of Minnetonka moccs crafted in a super pliable suede that'll stretch to fit your feet comfortably — aka the end of sock season does NOT mean the beginning of blister season.

    17. Or shelter under a clear bubble umbrella so the wind CANNOT get to you, even if it's hailing or raining sideways. You'll stay dry (and not get stabbed in the eye by someone else's umbrella).

    18. Drown out those annoying birds who start loudly chirping way before your alarm goes off; keep a mechanical white noise machine (it produces white noise by creating rushing air, not fake electric "ocean sounds") on your bedside table.

    19. If you're someone who chooses to shave their legs when the warm weather returns, re-learn how to do it right, leaving your skin moisturized and razor bump–free!

    20. Might I suggest trying Tend Skin, a much-beloved post-shave product to heal razor burn and prevent ingrown hairs, and other bumps? It really works (I use it myself).

    21. Keep a super compact waterproof blanket in your gear for those springtime hikes when the ground is still exceptionally muddy. Plus, you can keep using it throughout the summer, because it's perfect for beach days — the sand shakes right off!

    22. For those more sweltering spring days *before* your office building turns on the A/C for the summer, pop this surprisingly powerful desktop fan (it's only six inches) in your cubicle for a blast of cool air.

    23. And for your home, try a surprisingly quiet tower fan to help you reduce your A/C usage — this baby has three speed settings and powerful air flow so you stay comfortable as the mercury rises (and drops... and rises some more)!

    24. Protect your knees (and your pants) when getting your garden ship-shape for the warmer weather with a folding, cushioned kneeler— you can also just turn it over to use as a seat!

    25. Keep weather surprises at a minimum (and never get caught without your umbrella) by downloading a top-notch weather app like Dark Sky. You can customize your settings to get a weather report every morning when you wake up, set alerts for precipitation, and check out radar maps for ultimate weather geeking.

    26. Cozy up when the weather gets warmer in a temperature-regulating HygroCotton comforter that'll provide a soothing weight on your bod without overheating.

    27. Now that you've put your tights away for the season, save your thighs from that barelegged chafe with a pair of almost-too-pretty lace Bandalettes, aka spandex-nylon blend anti-chafing bands guaranteed to stay in place all day long.

    28. April and May mean you're longing to wear summery sun dresses, but it simply isn't warm enough yet, so opt for a super-soft maxi dress with cap sleeves and a slit so you can stay comfortable (and receive oodles of compliments).

    29. And layer everything (including the dress above) under a moto-style athleisure jacket, because you want the look of a black leather jacket.... but can never be sure if it's going to rain later. 😩

Spring still sucks, but in the meantime, these small changes can help you go from Squidward to Spongebob.
