"I just moved into my first real, adult apartment with my girlfriend (PRAISE US). And it’s been pretty great. The only thing is… she’s got luscious, beautiful hair just like me. Enter: Our shower drain. Tbh, it’s pretty gross. Who knows how much hair is down there? And it might not be just ours—it could be the hair of the old tenants. *shudders*
So when I spotted the TubShroom during some late-night perusing on Amazon, I ordered it. It’s so simple to install. All you do is pop it in the shower tub drain and you’re good to go. There aren’t any straggler hairs hanging around the drain anymore. All the hair is collected out of view, as well, and it only takes two seconds to clean. just remove the hair with a piece of toilet paper and toss it in the garbage. LATER, GROSS HAIR CLUMP! LOSE MY NUMBER!" —Sarah Aspler

"My pores appeared significantly smaller and my skin felt as smooth as a newborn baby's booty. In addition, the peel almost immediately handled the amount of shine I was experiencing throughout the day. That's because it has salicylic acid in it, a BHA commonly used to treat acne-prone skin. Now I'm able to go almost all day without blotting my face, and I have yet to have an acne breakout.
A huge downside of using a chemical exfoliant or peel is the healing time, which can include peeling or irritable skin for up to a week. However, I was able to wear all my normal makeup products the very next day." —Jame Jackson

"I got this because my favourite sweaters were starting to look kind of grungy. I tried using lint rollers, but they weren't picking up enough of the pills on my knits, and it was so time consuming. This electric shaver got rid of ALL the annoying pills and my sweaters look good as new. It's super gentle on clothes and it took way less time to get rid of the pills. I'll definitely be using this going forward." —Kaysey Davis

"I love bubbles — champs, cava, prosecco, sparkling rose — they just know how to bring the party! But no one likes when sparkling wine goes flat, or you feel like you can't just have one or two glasses without ruining the whole bottle. So when I embarked on a 'I want to have Aperol spritzes at home' quest, I quickly realized I needed a solution. When you add the Aperol (duh) and the soda water, it takes a whole lot of spritzes to finish a bottle of bubbly. So I went on Amazon and found the best champagne stopper I could find and immediately hit 'add to cart.'
What a great purchase! This little bb is so easy to use — just pop it on top of the bottle, push the metal sides in so it clamps on, then push the top button several times to vacuum seal and preserve the bubs. Then when you next want a glass, spritz, or mimosa, you'll hear that same *POP* you heard when first taking out the cork — and the effervescence you so crave will be fully intact. Plus, you can confidently store your leftover bottle on its side in your fridge; I've had zero leakage problems with this thus far!" —Maitland Quitmeyer

"These produce-saving containers will actually keep your whole, un-chopped produce as fresh as the day you bought it at the grocery store — for almost two entire weeks. Sure, it probably varies depending on stuff like how fresh it actually was when you bought it or what kind of produce it is — berries never last as long as curly-leaf kale (at least in my experience) — because that's just how the world works. But most things will last longer than they would have in their store containers!
Two notes: Although the directions for the produce savers say you don't have to wash your fruit and veggies first, I still rinsed all the strawberries at once, in the original container, before putting half in the produce saver. And I'm convinced the only reason these didn't last 14 full days (or longer) is they weren't completely fresh when I bought them — a few of them had bruises, which had begun to mold when I checked the produce saver on day 14. The rest of the berries were perfectly good, though: I rinsed one non-moldy one off (~in case of spores~, bc I worry about random things like that) and it still tasted fresh!" —Natalie Brown

"WHY didn't I buy these vacuum storage bags sooner?? I've only put them into several posts, and scrolled through the before + after review photos a million times, thinking 'man that would really help with my closet.' But it wasn't until I gazed in horror at the volume of sweaters I need to somehow store in my overflowing closet before unpacking my summer clothes that I FINALLY hit 'add to cart.'
I chose the large size (as opposed to the biggest size, called 'jumbo') because it seemed easier to move and store — jumbo is probably perfect for bedding, duvets, etc! And just one large bag was plenty to store nine or ten *very* large winter sweaters — all collapsed down to a fraction of their size. And it was surprisingly effortless, too! I didn't feel like breaking out the vacuum, so I just used the included hand pump, and it took maybe three minutes max to pump out the air and shrink the bag before replacing the cap — easy peasy! And no danger of re-inflation. I am literally going to order another pack of five today — my closet game is forever changed!!! All I can say is thank you Maitland, for actually taking your own advice for once." —Maitland Quitmeyer

"I have a lot of makeup, and reach for it more than most of my expensive blushes. A little goes a long way, it blends in like a dream, and it's hella cheap. This can go from zero to clown real quick, so use it sparingly." —Alice Prendergast

"I love my cat Moe more than I care for most people, but I don't particularly love how much he sheds on everything. I'd tried out the grooming glove on him, but for whatever reason, he didn't like how it felt and went running whenever I took it out of the drawer. But he loves the feeling of this brush! And hoo-boy, does this thing collect fur. It gathers up all the loose fur that he was surely about to shed on my clothes and furniture. Plus, the brush comes with a release button, making removing the fur from it a lot easier. I've already noticed a difference in Moe's coat, plus there's a lot less fur lying around the house." —Kat Angus

"If you're looking for ways to be more eco-friendly with food storage, I gotchu: Bees Wrap is made of organic cotton treated with jojoba oil and tree resin. It works just like the alternative but is washable, reusable, and compostable. It's also a lot thicker, so it can hold more watery foods, like tofu, without any leakage. This set comes with three sizes, the smaller ones are great for fruits and veggies, and covering bowls, and the larger one is awesome for loaves of bread." —Alice Prendergast

"These boots were made for walking — especially if you live in Canada and you're walking through snow and slush. I was unsure what to expect with these boots, because I’d never purchased shoes off Amazon before. To my delight, I’ve become obsessed with them! These boots are now a staple in my wardrobe. They are lightweight, waterproof, and super comfy. They’re also black, so they can match pretty much any outfit. They aren’t super insulated, but I usually just wear a thick pair of socks if I know it’s going to be cold out, and I'm fine. But the best thing about them is their super affordable price tag." —Liza Hicks

"Do you dust? Because I don't! I find that when I dust, the particles just fly into the air, and it seems like I'm not cleaning at all. Well, everything changed when I bought the OXO microfiber hand duster. Dust and dirt stick to this thing like a magnet — it's both gross and satisfying to see. The best part is, the cloth is removable and machine-washable so it's clean and ready to be used for next time. It's a small thing, but my apartment feels so much cleaner with this duster around!" —Yi Yang

"These have honestly changed my life. I was just looking for a couple of regular iPhone cables to keep in my bag and use at the office/home, but then I came across this multipack on Amazon. It comes with two three-foot cables and three cables longer than the regular length. I've always hated being constrained to a corner in the room (or to a side on my bed) just because I'm charging my phone while using it. I thought, "Hmm, five BRAIDED cables for $14.99? Sounds like it might not work, but what the hell!" Now, I'm so glad I put them in my cart.
All the cables worked perfectly, and I would've had a bunch of backups, too, if my fiancé didn't steal the rest of them. My favourite thing IN THE WORLD is the ten-foot cable. The freedom is ridiculous. I can be at the other edge of my bed and charge my phone! Also, other-third party cables I've tried have charged my phone very slowly, but this one charges perfectly. And the cables withstood my teething kittens (who have destroyed five MacBook chargers, countless iPhone cables, and two pairs of earphones). This is a very high quality product for the price and I just KNOW anyone would love it. It's been my best Amazon purchase in months." —Imaan Sheikh

"I hate ironing, which means that for a long time, if I had something that was wrinkled, either I wore it wrinkled or I never wore it again. But this steamer lets me smooth out all those fabric wrinkles within a few minutes, and dare I say it's almost fun to use it? Because it is. Now I don't have to dread the big production of ironing all my wrinkly stuff and just pull out this baby instead. It heats up in 30 seconds and can run for 15 minutes of steaming — plenty of time to rescue all my wrinkled clothing." —Kat Angus

"One of my pet peeves is finding dirty dishes mixed in with clean ones because no one bothered to check if the dishes were clean. My family is huge and sometimes it's hard for the younger kids to notice whether the dishes are clean or dirty. This magnet was the answer to my problems. It's big enough that you can't really miss it and it lets everyone in the house know when the dishes are dirty or clean. It's been working so far! I love small things that solve big problems." —Kaysey Davis

"I love my iPhone but I hate that I have to pick it up + point it at my face to unlock it. When the group texts come raining in during the work day, I'd like to be able to glance at them without taking the time to pick up, scroll through, and then putting it back down — my FOMO-y self needs to be sure the texts can wait until my next break for a reply! So I impulse bought this cute little phone stand on Amazon to solve my workday woes
It has a sleek but pretty, not-too-pink champagne-y rose gold body, an adjustable stand (so you can position it to your height perfectly), and a hole in the back you can snake a cord through for easy charging. The ledge is wide enough to fit a fairly substantial case without worry, and it's a game-changer that I can just look at the screen to unlock my phone. Magic! Now I can keep those group text updates truly ~at a glance~ — without interrupting my flow until I take a break later." —Maitland Quitmeyer

"When I was a teenager, my skin was an absolute nightmare. I thought that would all change by age 27 — ha ha ha! Joke's on me. Whenever my period is near, my face likes to remind me that everything is about to suck REAL HARD with the gift of a giant break out. For those dreaded times, the Aztec Secret Healing Clay really comes in handy.
It’s made of bentonite clay and it sucks everything out of your pores – like, EVERYTHING. Using it is simple: you mix the powdery clay with equal parts water or apple cider vinegar (I like to do a combo of the two), and apply it to your face as you would any other face mask. When this stuff starts to dry you are in for an experience. It freezes your face in place and tightens up every pore, and makes you seriously look like a lizard queen (see above photo for reference). I’ll be honest with you, the feeling is not that pleasant, but hold on – the end result is worth it. You can also just do spot treatments if you don't want to cover your whole face.
Once you've rinsed, your skin will be red like a tomato, and you will be scared, but don’t give up yet! Go forth and finish your routine (I use heavier serums and oils to get some moisture back), and then wait for everything to sink in. After about 20-ish minutes you will be glowing with no pimples left on your face (or at least significantly reduced pimples) and silky smooth skin. Would I recommend it for anyone suffering from a breakout? Absolutely." —Alice Prendergast

"How many times has this happened to you: You make a big pot of coffee and then realize you're the only one drinking it. You end up drinking the whole thing and get so wired you consider just sprinting to work on foot. Well, dear reader: I suggest you just make a single cup of coffee with a simple pour over coffee maker. This inexpensive one from OXO is a great place to start, thanks to its price point and easy-to-use design. Simply line with a coffee filter, add your grounds, and pour in the hot water. The water tank has markings so you know exactly how much water you're adding. The lid retains heats while brewing and the hole patterns ensure that you get an even and quality brew every single time. It usually takes about five minutes to get a full cup of coffee. I prefer this bad boy over a French press simply because it's way easier to clean and works just a smidge faster (every second is crucial when you're waiting on caffeine)." —Bek O'Connell

"Like everyone on planet earth these days, I’m trying to drink more water and stay hydrated throughout the day. But here’s the thing: I can’t stand room temperature water. (It’s gross. Fight me.) Enter: The Yeti Rambler bottle. I’m obsessed with this thing. It’s super durable and keeps my water cold ALL DAY LONG. Before I leave for work, I fill it up with water from my fridge, and by the time I’m commuting home, it’s still super cold. I also love that it doesn’t have that weird, plastic-y taste like other bottles do.
Unlike my previous water bottle which had a narrow opening, my Yeti has a wide mouth, so it’s super easy to put ice cubes in and clean. I don’t need a special brush to get inside to clean out all the grime. It also has a wide handle that’s comfy to hold and makes it easy to clip it to my backpack with a carabiner if I run out of room in my backpack. And when I do put it in my backpack, I feel 100% sure that it won’t leak over my laptop. It has a super-strong screw top that will keep the coldest of waters and the hottest of coffees sealed inside. I now bring it everywhere and, yes, I have to pee every five minutes, but that’s a good thing, right?" —Sarah Aspler

"I got the Kindle Paperwhite for Christmas and it's the best gift I've received in years. It's so easy to read (you can change the font and the font size, plus there's a dark mode for when you're reading in low light), and I love that I can switch between books so easily. I also recommend this fabric cover for it — it's a bit pricier than other Kindle covers, but the fabric is waterproof, and it's got a magnet that'll hold the cover open while you read. If you're a bookworm like I am, this is life saver." —Kat Angus

"First thing that needs to be said is that Uggs are great! They're warm, they're cozy, and you can just slide them on when you're freezing — I won't hear otherwise! They're not exactly high fashion, but they don't *need* to be when it's a straight-up polar vortex outside. So when I saw these Ugg slipper slides with an elastic back, I just had to buy a pair. I don't know what it is about them I find the cutest: the slightly sporty elastic, the Michelin man–esque plush rolls on top, or the chunky bottoms that give you a little extra height. AND they have all the comfort of a slip-on slide, but without the feeling that your foot is going to fall out any second.
They have a hard sole, so you can wear them as indoor slippers, half-indoor-half-outdoor take-out-the-trash-shoes, or real regular shoes (aka what I'm going to use them for). When it's still warm-ish out, I'm going to wear them with my toes poking through, but they're also going to be *so* cute with socks (team socks + sandals 'til I die!!!!!). And they're SO SOFT AND COMFY! I'm prepared to live in these all fall. Paired with leggings and a blazer? It's the perfect 'Ugh, I can barely make today happen' work outfit. I honestly want to get another pair in another of the cute colors...or the leopard print. Oh, and just FYI, I ended up sizing down in these!" —Maitland Quitmeyer

"After reading about how necessary it is to actually clean your makeup brushes (I know, I KNOW, I should’ve been doing this for years) I was super grossed out and motivated to order the right supplies to do the job. I’ve heard good things about Ecotools makeup brush cleansing shampoo so I figured I’d start there. The Amazon listing also suggested buying a silicone makeup brush cleaning pad to go with it so I figured... why not? Well, now I’m patting myself on the back because ordering these two items was a GAME CHANGER!
I could not believe how much residue came off my brushes in just one cleaning. You only need to use a little dab of the shampoo, so one bottle will definitely last a long time. The silicone pad made it super easy to thoroughly lather the brushes without leaving my bathroom sink in shambles. I also loved how each section was labeled with which brush should be cleaned in each area. My brushes look brand new! Don’t hesitate like I did — buy both the shampoo and the mat ASAP." —Heather Braga

"There is nothing that satisfies me more than an organized home, and this Dymo Label maker has helped me achieve that. It prints out aesthetically pleasing little labels that you can use on storage boxes, meal prep containers, and everything in between. I especially like using it for my spice containers, pantry jars, makeup storage, and plant pots (so I know exactly what's growing where). Unlike most electronic printers, this handheld device punches the letters into the stickers, which (in my humblest of opinions) is a lot prettier than an Arial font on a plain white background. Pro tip: If you want the text to be clear, you have to press the handle a little harder, but it takes very little effort (I promise, I am really lazy and would not use it otherwise)." —Alice Prendergast

"That's my hair right there! As you can see, it really picks up all of the annoyingly too-short hairs near the nape of my neck that I can't gather into a high ponytail or bun. (Don't mind the remaining front-framing wispies in the "after" photo — those are there on purpose!) There is one main caveat though: I only use it if I know I'll be washing my hair either that night or the next, since it does still ~stiffen~ the areas of hair I use it on — but it's better than hairspray, in my opinion. Some reviewers say that they can just brush the gel out, but I'd prefer to just wash it out." —Sarah Han

"I have one of these and it's super simple to use, even if you don't have a green thumb. Just drop the included plant pods, fill it with water, plug it in, and let it get down to business. It only took a few weeks for my lettuce and basil to be harvestable and now, after a couple months of patience, my tomatoes are starting to bloom. I love it because a) it makes me feel like a successful gardener b) thanks to the reservoir, my plants won't die if I forget to water them for weeks, and c) now I have fresh herbs at my disposal at all times." —Alice Prendergast

"There are two things I love: sloths and not forgetting what I'm supposed to do for work. And while I *am* excellent at watching every sloth video available on the internet, I am *not* great at staying organized. Enter this handy-dandy sloth to-do notepad. It helps me break down my weekly tasks by priority so I never get overwhelmed by a busy week — aka when I get an email about something I need to do, instead of going 'oh crap, I need to remember to do that later', I just write it down and finish whatever I'm doing first. I should mention each page is technically for individual days, but luckily for me I don't have an entire agenda per day, so I plan out by week.
And for anyone who's not a natural-born multitasker, this is great for you! I, for one, like to do one thing at a time so it's great to be able to list everything by time frame (like to do soon or to do after a nap) so I can think out the order of importance. I don't have to say how SATISFYING it is to check things off when I complete them — do I sometimes write things down just to give it a check? Maybe. It also has cute ways to motivate me, like a mood- and productivity-rating method in the form of sloths. Dare I say, I owe these little sloth heads full credit for keeping me out of stress mode every week — they just a have a way with...planning? Who knew! I guess it turns out that the only way to make me act like an adult is to have me use a sloth-themed planner — but I'll take it." —Emma McAnaw

"Back when we took those aptitude tests in school, they would always have a multiple choice section for race. And I always bubbled-in Asian without hesitation. My Korean grandmother spent a large amount of my childhood raising me, and being Korean became a large part of my identity, despite only being half — my mom is Korean and my dad is a whole mix of European countries. I was told that his side was a jumble of Austrian, German, Polish, and Norwegian. Whether that was true, I didn’t know for sure. On my birthday this year, my thoughtful girlfriend bought me an AncestryDNA kit to unravel the mystery of my other half. The kit they give you is pretty simple. There’s a small tube you fill up with your saliva and a code you redeem online so that the DNA you send through the mail can be matched to your site profile.
They compare parts of your DNA to people in different regions of the world to get a sense of where you might have some ancestry. I think the biggest WTF moment I had wasn’t discovering what my ethnic background was, but the communities that are connected to you. AncestryDNA has something called Genetic Communities that they claim are "groups of AncestryDNA members who are connected through DNA most likely because they descend from a population of common ancestors."
There are people on the site who are listed as 'Extremely High' in how likely they are to be related to me — a possible second or third cousin that I have never met. Now that’s a trip. I’m tempted to dig into the rabbit hole of genealogy and reach out to some of these people, to learn their stories. But maybe that’s for another time. If you’re big into tracing family trees, and have a side of your heritage that you want to learn more about, take a look into AncestryDNA. Even if your results don’t surprise you, maybe the connections you make with other people on the site will." —Jeff Barron
