It's so deeply concerning that 7 million people are stumped by this quiz, but then again I can absolutely imagine 2% of the population being absolute @$$hats so.
The role was written for Brooks Ashmanskas, who played Barry on Broadway. The role is essentially his story, and made for a deeply powerful and moving performance. It's not about the writers, it's about Ry*n M*rphy not wanting to make anything good, truthful, or meaningful.
