Response to Did I Give My Son ADD?:
As a 24 year-old who has struggled with ADHD and several comorbid disorders my entire life—NOT just puberty—I find your comment incredibly hurtful and ignorant. What happens when these behaviors and feelings extend beyond puberty? People like you are the reason people like me feel excluded, isolated, guilty, miserable, inadequate, stupid, and even depressed and anxious over our condition. You know nothing of which you speak, especially to speak so boldly. Imagine having a condition or disease that made your life so hard, and made you feel so different from most other people, that made you, at times, feel searing pain right in your heart and gut—the pain of thinking maybe no one will ever understand, maybe I am not right for this world—and then be told your struggle is invalid, nonexistent. I wouldn’t wish that on anyone. And there you go, perpetrating that ignorant nastiness. Think about it.
