Here Are 21 Popular Movie Characters Who Are Actually Terrible

"Everyone seems to like Cady Heron from Mean Girls, but she abandoned Janis and Damian for the Plastics."

We recently asked members of the BuzzFeed Community to tell us about a popular movie character they can't stand. Here are the polarizing results:

    1. Dumbledore from the Harry Potter series

    Warner Bros. Pictures / Via

Dumbledore literally puts children in charge, allows them to walk into dangerous situations, and praises students for breaking the rules. Plus, he’s always playing favorites, which is a ridiculous thing for a headmaster to do.

    2. Captain America from the Marvel Cinematic Universe

    Marvel / Via

I found him quite selfish, judgmental, and arrogant. He acted like he was the only one who had faced any hardships, and he never really changed or grew as a character.

    3. Gabriella from the High School Musical series

    Disney Channel / Via

Gabriella is super annoying and never stops whining. Also, she's completely dependent on Troy.

    4. Belle from Beauty and the Beast

    Disney / Via

A lot of people think she's the best Disney princess, but all I can see is how self-righteous she is! This is especially obvious in the scene where she disregards the Beast's explicit — and only — request that she stay out of the West Wing. Then she gets mad at HIM for being upset with her!

    5. Bella from the Twilight series

    Summit Entertainment / Via

She was obnoxious and whiny in the books and in the movies. She’s just terrible.

    6. Miranda Priestly from The Devil Wears Prada

    20th Century Fox / Via

She was the worst, most demanding boss in the world! The fact that she was fabulous will not change my mind.

    7. Allie from The Notebook

    New Line Cinema / Via

She and Noah had an abusive relationship when she was young. She also cheated on her fiancé for a guy she hadn’t seen in years.

    8. Ferris from Ferris Bueller's Day Off

    Paramount Pictures / Via

He constantly manipulates his friends and lies to everybody around him just because he thinks he’s better, smarter, and more important than everyone else.

    9. Elsa from Frozen

    Disney / Via

Yes, Elsa had a rough childhood, but that doesn't excuse the fact that she's a terrible queen. She abandons her people at the first sign of a crisis — that SHE caused — and then she refuses to spend even five minutes with her sister brainstorming about how to fix it.

    10. Cady Heron from Mean Girls

    Paramount Pictures / Via

Everyone seems to like Cady Heron from Mean Girls, but she abandoned Janis and Damian for the Plastics.

    11. Captain Marvel from the Marvel Cinematic Universe

    Marvel / Via

As a stand-alone character, Captain Marvel is one of the better heroes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and her powers are INSANE. However, she doesn't have chemistry with ANY of the other characters. She doesn’t connect with anybody, and her need to be sarcastic, snappy, and arrogant is a little bit much.

    12. Beca from Pitch Perfect

    Universal Pictures / Via

She thinks she has the right to completely change the Bellas' routine even though she's only a freshman. They tell her no and she does her own thing anyway, which almost destroys the Bellas' chance at victory. Basically, she thinks she's better than everyone else throughout the entire movie.

    13. Hagrid from the Harry Potter series

    Warner Bros. Pictures / Via

Everyone loves him, but I found him super annoying in the books and movies.

    14. Nick from Crazy Rich Asians

    Warner Bros. Pictures / Via

He kept lying and hiding things from Rachel, and he totally threw her under the bus when she met his very complicated family.

    15. Sophie from the Mamma Mia! movies

    Universal Pictures / Via

She invites three men who could potentially be her biological dad to her wedding based on private entries from her mother’s diary and doesn't even think to tell anybody about it.

    16. Deadpool from Deadpool

    20th Century Fox / Via

He's not funny, and he's completely obnoxious. I can tolerate him for a few minutes, but that's about it.

    17. Mary from Mary Poppins

    Disney / Via

She's obnoxious and arrogant. As soon as she really starts to connect with the children, she just freaks out and fucks off.

    18. Frodo from The Lord of the Rings trilogy

    New Line Cinema / Via

He did absolutely nothing helpful. If it weren't for Sam, he would have been dead before he even stepped out of that boat.

    19. Allison from The Breakfast Club

    Universal Pictures / Via

She doesn’t say much for the first part of the film, and when she finally does start to speak, she tricks Claire into giving her and the boys more information about her sex life.

    20. Han Solo from the Star Wars series

    Lucasfilm / Via

I’ve always heard people say Han Solo is the best, but I realized that wasn't true when I rewatched the original trilogy. He's arrogant, bitter, and rude to Leia.

    21. And Rose from Titanic

    Paramout Pictures / Via

We can ALL agree there was enough space for two of them on that wood panel. Plus, she cheated on her fiancé for some tryst on a ship.
