15 Deleted Scenes And Alternate Endings That'll Change How You See Your Favorite Movies

The alternate endings for Get Out and Titanic ruin everything, tbh.

We asked the BuzzFeed Community to tell us their favorite alternate endings and deleted scenes from movies. Here are the unseen moments that'll change everything for you.

1. In Get Out, there's an alternate ending where white cops appear at the end (instead of Rod), and Chris gets arrested.

2. In Avengers: Endgame, there's a deleted scene that takes place immediately after Tony dies where all of the Avengers take a knee to honor him.

This heartbreaking scene occurs immediately after Tony dies and Pepper kisses him goodbye. One by one, each Avenger takes a knee to honor their fallen soldier. It's incredibly emotional.

3. In The Devil Wears Prada, there's a deleted scene where Miranda's husband drunkenly ridicules Mr. Ravitz, embarrassing Miranda. Andy steps in, and Miranda thanks her.

This "thank you" was completely out of character for Miranda, and it totally ruined the dynamic she had with everyone. It made her look vulnerable and weak, and it would have changed the whole tone of the movie had they kept the scene in.

4. In Scream 4, there's an alternate opening where two teens fake-scare each other and pretend to be Ghostface, so when the real killer appears neither believes he's real.

The Scream series is famous for its twisted (and twisty!) opening sequences, and this alternate opening is no different. It turns the tables on the audience by having the two teens prank each other multiple times. Then, after the real Ghostface appears and attacks one of the teens, the other doesn't even react because she thinks it's fake. The actual opening of the movie is completely different, with one teen coming reallllllly close to escaping Ghostface's wrath.

5. In Mean Girls, there's a deleted scene where post-bus-crash Regina George confronts Cady in the school bathroom during Spring Fling.

Paramount Pictures

Cady sincerely apologizes to Regina, and the two of them have a real heart-to-heart. Everything appears to be reconciled, and it marks a true turning point for both characters. The movie still works without the scene, but it's a cute moment that reminds viewers why they originally liked the innocent Cady so much, and it also brings a softness to the character of Regina George.

6. In The Dark Knight, there's an extended scene that takes place immediately after the Joker blows up the hospital and gets on the bus.

This scene is short and simple, but it highlights the true menacing and mercurial behavior of Heath Ledger's Joker. After he gets on the bus, he doesn't even turn around to look at the destruction he's caused. He doesn't care about it. All that matters is that it happened.

7. In Donnie Darko, the director's cut added an extended ending that showed Donnie's dead (and impaled) body.

In total, about 20 minutes were added to the film in the director's cut. This obviously made the ending much more graphic, as it showcased Donnie's lifeless body being impaled by the jet engine.

8. In Titanic, there's an alternate ending where everyone tries to stop old Rose from throwing the Heart of the Ocean into the water.

This ending is entirely too cheesy and completely ruins the tone of the film. In fact, after Rose throws the necklace into the water, one of the crew members yells at her, saying, "That really sucks, lady!" She scoffs, and then she and Mr. Lovett laugh together. No thanks!!!

9. In A Star is Born, there's a deleted scene where Ally serenades Jack on their wedding day to the song "Is That Alright?"

Their actual wedding festivities are pretty much glossed over in the movie, but this scene breaks down the entire day. It starts with Ally at the piano, singing "Is that Alright?," and it then flashes back to earlier in the day when she walked down the aisle with Jack. The next two minutes beautifully intercut moments of their wedding with moments of everyone celebrating later that night.

10. In I Am Legend, there's an alternate ending that actually stays true to the book, in which Will Smith's character lives and discovers that the Darkseekers have feelings.

In the movie's real ending, Will Smith's character blows up the Darkseekers (and himself) with a grenade, while Anna and Ethan escape with the antidote. In the alternate ending (as well as the novel's ending), he realizes that the Darkseekers have feelings, so in their eyes he's actually the monster. He apologizes, and the Darkseekers spare his life.

11. In Crazy Rich Asians, there's a deleted scene where Nick confronts his mother, revealing that their relationship is much more complicated than you think.

This scene adds a lot more depth to each character, which seems to be missing throughout other parts of the film. For instance, this is the first time Eleanor is actually vulnerable. This scene provides necessary insight into her personal life, as well as her relationship with the family she married into. It's also interesting to see Nick confront her and act more like a grownup, instead of just accepting everything Eleanor says and does to/for him.

12. In Aliens, there's an extended scene where Ripley learns that her daughter died while she was in hyper-sleep.

20th Century Fox

Part of the scene was featured in the original version, but the director's cut included more of Ripley's reaction, which justified a lot of her actions later on in the movie. Without the scene, there was way less character development for Ripley.

13. In The Truman Show, there's a deleted scene where Truman gets verrrrrry suspicious because he notices one of the actors who's in a wheelchair one day and then running the next.

The full movie obviously still works without this scene, but it's still cool to watch Truman grow suspicious of everyone around him as their overall plan starts to unravel.

14. In Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part I, there's a deleted scene where Aunt Petunia and Dudley say emotional goodbyes to Harry.

Outside of this deleted scene, Aunt Petunia and Dudley show virtually no redeeming qualities. However, this scene has Aunt Petunia admitting that she truly loves, misses, and thinks about her sister. It also showcases Dudley being a genuinely good person. Without it, their character developments are nonexistent, and there's no real closure.

15. And in Bridesmaids, there's a 10-minute deleted scene that's solely an argument between Annie and the teenage customer at the jewelry store.

The whole thing is perfection. Obviously they kept a few seconds of the argument in the final cut of the movie, just to show that Annie got fired from her job, but there are literally hundreds of jokes going back and forth between the two characters here, and it's absolutely hilarious.
