🚨 There are MASSIVE spoilers ahead for Moon Knight Episode 6 on Disney+!🚨
1. First, when Arthur Harrow releases Ammit, the god takes the form of a crocodile, which is something taken directly from ancient Egyptian mythology. This goddess was always depicted as having the head of a crocodile, the front legs of a lion, and the back of a hippo.
2. In Jeff Lemire's Moon Knight comics, which the show is heavily based on, Ammit also makes an appearance after posing as Marc's therapist, which is similar to Arthur Harrow being Marc/Steven's therapist in the psych ward.
3. When Khonshu is trying to convince Layla to become his new avatar now that Marc's gone, he calls her "little bug." This is likely Khonshu's way of trying to appeal to Layla, considering her father called her "little scarab."
4. When Marc leaves the Field of Reeds and finds Steven again, it's very similar to a moment from Jeff Lemire's Moon Knight comics when Marc comes face-to-face with Steven and Jake Lockley in the desert and Marc asks if they'll stay with him because he's scared.
5. Something I noticed after I rewatched Episode 1 to prep for this finale is that the boat Taweret is on in the afterlife can be spotted in Gus's fish tank in the very first episode.
6. Okay, OKAY. Layla becoming Taweret's avatar is so amazing and so perfect for her character arc, and it's likely a re-invention of a Marvel comic superhero named Scarlet Scarab. In the comics, Abdul Faoul goes by the Scarlet Scarab and is one of Marvel's first Egyptian heroes, much like Layla in the MCU.
7. Also, Layla's superhero persona being Scarlet Scarab is a great nod to the nickname her father gave her, "little scarab." Also, earlier in this finale episode, her transformation was foreshadowed when she picked up the scarab off Marc's dead body.
8. This is just a subtle detail that proves how amazing Oscar Isaac's performance is in this show. When Layla reunites with Marc and then Steven, you can see Oscar does a small head nod before Steven takes over Marc's body.
9. If you look closely, you can see that Layla's outfit when she becomes Taweret's avatar features a scarab/bug, which is a likely nod to the superhero persona Scarlet Scarab. Also, it matches Taweret's outfit that we saw in Episodes 4 and 5.
10. In the post-credits scene, you can spot a QR code on a poster in the psych ward Arthur Harrow is a patient in. If you scan the code, it'll take you to another free Moon Knight comic called Moon Knight: Acts of Evil Issue #1 from 2019, which features Moon Knight fighting Kang the Conqueror. Of course, Kang first appeared in the MCU in Loki, and he'll appear next in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.
11. As Arthur is getting wheeled outside, you can see that the hospital he is staying in is called Sienkiewicz Psychiatric Hospital, which is a nod to comic book artist Bill Sienkiewicz. Bill helped give the first Moon Knight comic series its signature look, particularly the dark tones and gritty aspects associated with the character.
12. Once Arthur meets with Khonshu inside the limo, you can see that Khonshu is now wearing a white suit. This is a nod to Jeff Lemire's 2016 Moon Knight comics, where Khonshu also wears a white suit. As I've said before, this comic run heavily inspired the TV series and even featured Marc in a psych ward.
13. Of course, we FINALLY meet Jake Lockley in the post-credits scene when he shoots Arthur Harrow. In the Moon Knight comics, Jake is Marc's third personality alongside himself and Steven. Finally meeting Jake also confirms that he's the more violent version of Marc that we've seen in a few episodes of Moon Knight, notably when both Marc and Steven black out and can't remember what happened.
14. Also, Jake driving Khonshu's limo is a subtle nod to Jake's comic book origins. In the comics, Jake Lockley is a cab driver, which is a skill that comes in handy when he's Moon Knight, since he knows the streets of NYC so well. The series also gave Jake his signature hat from the comics.
15. And finally, Khonshu and Jake's limo is taken directly from the 2014 Moon Knight comic book series by Warren Ellis, Declan Shalvey, and Jordie Bellaire. The limo is the primary mode of transportation for Mr. Knight in the comics, and you can even see that the license plate reads "SPKTR," aka Spector. In the comics, Steven Grant is a millionaire, so we could be getting more of those origins if we get another season.
