In Appreciation Of Meghan Markle's "Historic" Denim Jacket

The royal family is lucky to have her.

Meghan Markle is truly bringing the royal family into the 21st century. The people's duchess is currently on a royal tour in South Africa, alongside Prince Harry, and today she made history when she wore a denim jacket to an official engagement.

The fact that a royal has not until now, in 2019, worn a denim jacket to a royal event is pretty mind-blowing — and they can all now thank Meghan for setting this new bar in chill.

Meghan couldn't have looked happier as she visited the nonprofit Waves for Change at Monwabisi Beach.

She was all smiles in her Madewell jacket, which she wore with black jeans and leather flats.

Setting a precedent in denim is just one more cool thing Meghan has done for the royal family since becoming a duchess — which, of course, hardly compares to all of the activism and female empowerment she's made her focus...

...as well as encouraging Harry to publicly identify as a feminist — and, together, hiring an all-woman senior staff, which is another royal first.

It's official - Prince Harry is a feminist, Meghan Markle revealed today. Jessica Phillips, 23, told Meghan she loved having a feminist in the Royal Family.

The royal family is so lucky to have Meghan.

And, for the record, there is a royal history of wearing denim to events (just not a denim jacket) and when off-duty.

Even Prince Harry has done it.
