8 Rounds Of "Would You Rather" With John Catucci

Can the You Gotta Eat Here! host choose between Canada's best comfort food and some ideal Canadian experiences?

You Gotta Eat Here! host John Catucci knows a lot about Canadian comfort food.

The Food Network Canada star travels the country to find Canada's most delicious, mouthwatering, over-the-top meals.

We wanted to test his appetite, so when Catucci visited the BuzzFeed Canada office, we played a delicious game of “Would You Rather” with some of his favourite meals from You Gotta Eat Here!

John was in for some pretty difficult dilemmas.

    Would you rather...

    1. Eat the Salsiccia e Rapini from Via Tevere Pizzeria OR get a warm hug from Justin Trudeau?

John Catucci: Trudeau looks like he gives nice hugs. Like, if anyone's gonna give a good hug, it's Justin Trudeau. He looks like he'd give a nice, full-body hug. But the Rapini, with the sausage on the pizza, is also a hug, but from the inside. It depends on what kind of hug you want. You know what? Because I haven't had one yet, I'm going to go with the P.M. hug.

WINNER: A warm hug from Justin Trudeau.

    Would you rather...

    2. Eat the Chorizo Torta from Tres Carnales Taqueria OR go furniture shopping with the Ikea monkey?

John Catucci: That monkey is so cute, and he wears a diaper. He also wears a lambskin coat. A monkey wearing a coat in general is fun. But he's going to be pooing everywhere. So just because of that, I'm going to go with the torta.

    WINNER: The Chorizo Torta.

    Would you rather...

    3. Eat the Beckett's Benny from Shine Café OR rub Peter Mansbridge's head for good luck?

John Catucci: Oh, my god. If anybody's head needs to be rubbed, it's Peter Mansbridge's. But the Beckett's Benny is so good with Chipotle Hollandaise sauce. Can I have both? Oh, maybe I want to rub his head with Hollandaise sauce. Is that possible? Can I do that? I think that's my choice. Just because Peter Mansbridge has met so many people, and I'm sure there's so much information in his head that would rub off onto me if I rubbed his head, but I also do love a good Hollandaise sauce. I'll just mash the two together, which is very Canadian, I think.

WINNER: Rubbing Hollandaise sauce on Mansbridge's head.

    Would you rather...

    4. Eat the Genoa Pizza from Fratelli OR high-five Ellen Page?

John Catucci: The Genoa pizza, with its awesome drizzle of basil pesto, is one of the best I've ever had. But Ellen Page looks like she gives a good high-five. Just elbow-to-elbow, a slap-five. I think she knows how to do a good high-five, so I'm going with high-five.

WINNER: A high-five from Ellen Page.

    Would you rather...

    5. Eat the Coconut Cream Pie from Ernie's Coffee Shop OR go to a Toronto Raptors game with Drake?

John Catucci: This is tough, because the coconut cream pie has that flaky crust and, like, two inches of whipped cream. But... Drake's got those good seats. I'm going to go with Raptors with Drake, 'cause he's got good seats. But only if the inflatable Raptor is showing up. Because he makes me laugh harder than anyone on this earth, and if anyone's going to make sure the inflatable Raptor is going to show up, it's Drake.

WINNER: Watching the Raptors with Drake.

    Would you rather...

    6. Eat the Adobo Chicken from Casa Manila OR go canoeing on Lake Louise?

John Catucci: The tender chunks of tangy chicken are really ideal, especially with a side of pickled green papaya slaw. And if you know me, you know that me and nature don't really get along very well. I'm a city boy and sometimes nature gives me hives. I'm also lazy. I think Lake Louise would be too much work for me, too strenuous. So I'm going to go with the Adobo Chicken.

    WINNER: The Adobo Chicken.

    Would you rather...

    7. Eat the Pork Belly Ramen from Kinton Ramen OR play hockey with P.K. Subban?

John Catucci: Kinton Ramen does everything right with the soy-marinated pork belly and the hand-stretched ramen. I, like very few Canadians, cannot skate. I don't like hockey. I mean, yay sports, but I just... don't care. I'll watch the Raptors, but hockey? Nah. But I do know how to slurp some ramen. I'll slurp ramen every day, all day. Ramen.

    WINNER: The Pork Belly Ramen.

    And LASTLY, would you rather...

    8. Eat the Milhojas from Panaderia Latina Bakery OR watch Mean Girls with Rachel McAdams?

John Catucci: Milhojas is a dessert with a layer of puff pastry, then a layer of dulce de leche, another layer of puff pastry, and cream and icing sugar. It's incredible. But Rachel McAdams! Ooh. I say that I'm going to get a couple of milhojas, bring them to Rachel McAdams and we're going to watch it together. We'll get our PJs on. We could cuddle, maybe, if she wants to. If not, we can have our separate spots on the couch. But either way, we'll have our milhojas.

WINNER: Eating the Milhojas while watching Mean Girls with Rachel McAdams.

New episodes of You Gotta Eat Here! air Fridays at 9 p.m. ET on Food Network Canada.
