35 Small Tips To Make Your Bedroom Look So Much Better

Ways to bump up your under-bed storage space, create more late-night reading light, tidy up tangled cords, and more transformative lil' hacks.

    1. Mask the horror show underneath your bed with a sharp bed skirt to coordinate with your bedding. Trust me! I use one to mask my own underbed storage area.

    2. Put down a luxe-looking runner by your bed or in front of your closets to help create a cozy space without hurting your budget. I own this very runner in black and love it every single day that I walk on it!

    3. Boost your current bed frame with some adjustable bed risers that'll buy you 3, 5, or 8 inches of extra space.

    4. Throw a faux-sheepskin rug over that hand-me-down chair that's THE CHAIR for all your sorta-dirty clothes for a glam touch that'll inspire you to actually hang up all your stuff. Think about how unwrinkled those pants will be next week!

    5. Cover up dings and discoloration on door frames and molding with some wood scratch cover so everything will blend in like normal. Also, it requires no sanding or refinishing! No more trying to get into a book chapter while that bald spot on your window frame haunts you from across the room.

    6. And hide smaller scratches on your nightstand who's seen some stuff with a set of wood repair markers. We love a repair instead of a replacement product!

    7. And! Turn back time on dribbles of yore with a water mark removing cloth that could also do wonders on the nail polish remover you dribbled down your nightstand two years ago that's been a running "project for next weekend" for the past two years.

    8. Create another light source (every room needs three!) with some fairy lights with photo clips to keep all your favorite memories nearby while making it easier to get completely lost in just one more chapter of your book.

    9. Create a "headboard" on the cheap by hanging up a tapestry. If you're scarce on space (like me!) this'll be an especially welcome solution because it won't require any floor space.

    10. Tuck stray cords outta the way with cable clip organizers because you need your phone charger by your bed but you don't have to trip over it or make it take center stage.

    11. Corral all your bedtime essentials with a bedside storage caddy instead of losing everything on your tiny, crowded nightstand. Or worse yet, your essentials falling into the forbidden nook between your bed and wall.

    12. Or opt for a clamp-on wooden shelf in case you need a surface for your water glass and charging phone.

    13. Graduate from your plastic go-to cup to an elegant water carafe so you don't have to run to the kitchen when that pizza comes back for a thirsty haunting at the witching hour.

    14. Prevent closet-shelf avalanches (and free up some drawer room) with some clip-on shelf dividers as a topple-free solution for keeping your sweatshirts, gym clothes, and other drawer overflow in neat piles. (Those hoods always mess up other sweatshirt organizing options!)

    15. Elevate your music collection with a vinyl storage shelf that'll take up the some footprint as that old plastic crate you currently have shoved in a corner.

    16. Erase the likes of spills, wine, and even Sharpie marker(!!!) off your upholstered surfaces with this powerful stain remover. As you can see, it even works on suede furniture. (I can't be the only one who's been living with mascara stains on my comforter.)

    17. Swap out that holiday fleece blanket from four work Secret Santas ago with a chic throw for those nights when you could use a lil' something extra.

    18. Freshen up your bed (if you're a throw pillow person — such a divisive issue!) with some velvet throw pillow covers available in 32 colors. They'll feel so cozy and look so glam. Plus, they're smooth so if you fall asleep on top of them and your made-up bed, you won't wake up with weird lines on your face!

    19. Go a bit bold with some patterned sheets in case you really wanna get wild between your fitted and flat sheet.

    20. Keep your fitted sheet neatly where it belongs with sheet suspenders for a much neater made bed... but also a better sleep experience thanks to no longer having to wrangle your sheets in the night.

    21. Throw in some satin pillow cases that'll not only look glam, but will assist you in your beauty sleep because they're more moisturizing for your skin and hair than sleeping on cotton pillow cases.

    22. Stash extra blankets and other various bedroom essentials that tend to clutter your space with a cushioned storage bench. Plus! You can park it at the end of your bed for a super luxe look and spot to pull on or off your shoes for the day.

    23. Tidy up your dresser top or other surfaces where you tend to throw your accessories with an eyeglasses organizer that'll keep your pairs of specs way safer than out in the open. Sunglasses too!

    24. Give yourself some peace of mind if you're into open windows for the sake of a breeze with this low-key motion sensor you can place on your partially opened window that'll act like your guard dog while ya' snooze. And if you upgrade this plan, you can save on homeowner's insurance!

    25. Revamp your under-things storage with a sock and underwear organizer to help you zero in on your lucky Halloween socks... and figure out which pair-less ones need the boot.

    26. And keep the shape of your bras (why are bras so expensive?!) with a bra organizer. Here's to differentiating between your ivory T-shirt bra and ivory lacy bra in a snap.

    27. Pack linens and out-of-season clothes (inside vacuum storage bags) inside luggage...because if that roller carry-on is going to take up space underneath your bed, it might as well earn its stationary keep.

    28. Store stuff you require easier access to in a zippered storage bag that's basically just begging to hold onto your spare blankets you use every once in a while on chilly nights. Or maybe this is where all those extra pillows on your bed can get tucked in for the night?

    29. Use ~pretty~ storage options where you can for your open storage needs. Place a nice blanket or throw pillow on top of a stack of random book and magazines in the bottom of this basket. No one will be the wiser.

    30. *Effectively* get up pet hair with a graciously size lint roller so your comforter won't look like it's faux-fur. (It's cat hair, thank you. Or, it WAS.)

    31. Invest in a minimalist tissue box cover that'll help you address your sniffles without messing up your aesthetic. Welcome to home ownership!

    32. Buy an adorable (but loud!) alarm clock with a glow-in-the-dark face because maybe it's time you graduated to something besides just setting five alarms on your phone.

    33. Get a night-light for your bed that'll make you feel like you're staying at a fancy hotel as you step around that pile of clothes that fell off "the chair" in the middle of the night.

    34. If you're a mere subject in a four-legged ruler's kingdom, step up to an undercover machine-washable dog bed that'll outshine that well-loved (and -worn) bed they've drooled all over in THEIR room (your bedroom).

    35. Help your sleep schedule with some blackout curtains that'll also make your place look a bit more grownup. Future you will thank you.
