Piers Morgan Is Getting Backlash For His Comments On Meghan Markle's Interview, And Here's Why

"You're more outraged that Harry and Meghan had the audacity to speak their truth than you should be at the actual outrage [that is] racism." —Dr. Shola Mos-Shogbamimu

Last night, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry sat down with Oprah in a no-holds-barred interview about their experience in the UK, and it was emotional, to say the least.

Prince Harry and Meghan sitting down with Oprah for their tell-all interview

It seemed like the entire world tuned in for this interview — present company included — and, in turn, had opinions. Some of the opinions were praising Meghan and Harry's composed candor — aka, they spilled the tea, but with their pinkies raised:

All of twitter looking at the royal family & british media after this Meghan interview

But there were also people who thought Meghan was "acting." One of those humans was Piers Morgan:

Very important to remember, as we await the big Oprah whine-athon, that any criticism of Meghan Markle is vile sexist racist bullying... but Ms Markle spray-gunning everyone on global TV, like she spray-gunned her young female staff, is a brave private woman finding her voice.

BEFORE the interview aired, Piers Morgan seemed to already have his opinion on it all, which is the opposite of journalism, but I digress...

Almost immediately, Piers went on a tirade about the interview, calling it "disgraceful" that Meghan and Harry had the gall to...share their personal experiences in an interview...now that they're allowed to speak publicly...

This interview is an absolutely disgraceful betrayal of the Queen and the Royal Family. I expect all this vile destructive self-serving nonsense from Meghan Markle - but for Harry to let her take down his family and the Monarchy like this is shameful. #OprahMeghanHarry

Also, I PERSONALLY do not think they were disrespectful to the monarchy. How is it disrespectful to share your personal experiences? I would like to know that, Piers.

    Like, wut:

I wouldn’t believe Meghan Markle if she gave me a weather report.

IDK what interview Piers watched — maybe the broadcast in America was different from the one in the UK — but if "everything the Queen stands for" is people asking racially pointed questions about the skin tone of their child and not helping when Meghan insinuated that she was having suicidal ideations, then I don't stand for that shit either:

Let’s be clear: Prince Harry and his wife just spent two hours trashing everything the Queen stands for & has worked so hard to maintain, whilst pretending to support her. And they did it while her 99yr-old husband Philip is seriously ill in hospital. It’s contemptible.

I will say, the one saving grace during Piers' morning segment was Dr. Shola Mos-Shogbamimu reading him to filth:

The Queen is not above reproach. She & the Royal Family are neither faultless or perfect. They have a case to answer for the failure to support #HarryandMeghan from racism/ hate media which led to them stepping back royal duties. #HarryandMeghanonOprah #OprahMeghanHarry #GMB

When Dr. Mos-Shogbamimu called Piers "disgusting," I felt that.

ONCE MORE FOR THOSE IN THE BACK:

By all means, let's applaud the Queen when she does something right, but when she does something wrong, we need to call her out. What kind of grandmother would be so close to her grandson, Harry, but not use her power and influence as Queen to protect [Harry and his wife] from the racist media coverage? What kind of grandmother would protect her own son, Prince Andrew, from the potential crime of raping a minor, but would do jack-all to protect Harry and Meghan, especially...[since Meghan made her suicidal ideations known]. And then you sit there, hammering on about how the royal institution is not racist...are you out of your godforsaken mind?

"Listen, you might learn something. The royal family as an institution is rooted in colonialism, white supremacy, and racism. You're more outraged that Harry and Meghan had the audacity to speak their truth than you should be at the actual outrage [that is] racism."

Dr. Shola Mos-Shogbamimu's eloquently worded drag weren't the only words of discontent. Here are some other Twitter users who disagreed with Piers' opinion — which, in my opinion, was stupid:

At the end of the day, people can have their opinions, but if your "opinion" is that people suffering under the institution that is racism aren't allowed to talk about their experiences suffering under said institution...then, frankly, I don't want to hear what you have to say.
