Remember When Kristen Stewart Swore On "SNL"? Well Now She's Just Explained What Actually Happened Behind-The-Scenes

Before the 2017 episode aired, Kristen had apparently reassured the SNL team that she wouldn't swear like she had in rehearsals. "I would never do that," she said at the time.

Hosting Saturday Night Live is a pretty big deal for any celebrity, so imagine how Kristen Stewart feels now that she's about to host the show for a second time.

However, SNL producers are probably hovering over the beep button as the last time Kristen appeared on the show, she accidentally swore live on air.

At the beginning of the episode, which aired in 2017, Kristen took the opportunity to hilariously respond to Donald Trump's past tweets about her and ex-boyfriend Robert Pattinson.

"I'm a little nervous to be hosting because I know that the president's probably watching and I don't think he likes me that much," Kristen said during her opening monologue. "Four years ago, I was dating this guy called Rob and we broke up and then we got back together and, for some reason, it made Donald Trump go insane."

And, after reading a couple more tweets, Kristen went on to deliver this perfect line.

So, everything was going well...until it wasn't. Kristen had literally finished the monologue without a hitch, and then she accidentally dropped the F-bomb.

"I felt so bad about it. I just came offstage apologizing profusely," Kristen said at the time. "They were really nice about it. They were like, 'We still have an entire show to do, don't think about it.'"

But, speaking to Jimmy Fallon about her second hosting gig, Kristen opened up about what went down behind-the-scenes in the lead up to the show and somehow it makes the whole thing even better.

Revealing it was the one time she stepped off the teleprompter, Kristen said that she'd had "numerous people" approach her before the show reminding her not to swear.

And it seems that there was a little worry amongst the SNL team because Kristen had been "stumbling" in rehearsals due to feeling "self-conscious and embarrassed".

"I had been kinda stumbling through rehearsal because I was really self-conscious and embarrassed and I was like, 'I can't do this until it’s the moment and, you know, it's game on,'" Kristen revealed.

Oh, don't panic about the bleeding by the way, it's a Halloween costume.

It turns out that the shaky rehearsals led to a lot of swearing, which concerned the crew even more.

"A lot of that was cursing," Kristen said. "[The SNL team] were like, 'You can’t do that on the show, cannot do that on the show' and uh, I did it on the show."

Hilariously, Kristen added that she had reassured everybody there was no chance she would swear live on air, saying at the time: "Why would I ever...what do you think I am, I would never do that."

When Jimmy asked if she "blanked" and that was the reason she swore, the Twilight actor said it was actually quite the opposite and she just got super "in the moment".

"I was feeling really present and in the moment and so I didn’t blank, I actually was like, really giving her."

Fortunately, Kristen said that she's "stoked" about this weekend's show, adding that she feels "amazing" and "less palpitation-y this time".

She'll be hosting alongside musical guests Coldplay. Talking of which, Kristen also revealed that the band's frontman Chris Martin introduced himself like, "Hey, Chris Martin, from the band Coldplay," like people have never heard of them before.
