People Shared Movie Scenes That Always Piss Them Off And, Honestly, Same

Y'all already KNOW Grandpa Joe is on this list.

Listen — there's nothing worse than enjoying a movie when, out of nowhere, something happens that makes no sense character-wise/plot-wise/common sense–wise, and it angers you beyond reason.

Well, this week, Redditor sugar-soad asked, "What scene in a movie really pissed you off?" and, WHEW BUDDY, people did not hold back.

So, here are just a few of the movie scenes* that really grind some gears:

*Warning: Given the nature of this post...there are some SPOILERS AHEAD for these films.

Walt Disney Studios

"I know I'm probably alone on this, but I hate Hans' heel turn. I don't know why they made him so blatantly evil, so abruptly. They should have let them kiss and had Anna realize it didn't work because they were never truly in love, so then he panics and comes up with a plan on the fly to take power. Instead, they turn him into a mustache-twirling villain seemingly out of nowhere."

3. The choice, John Wick (2014)

Lionsgate

"When Viggo knocks John out, but then ties him up and talks to him instead of just killing him immediately. I know that the 'bad guy not taking the opportunity to kill the hero' is a common trope — but killing John is literally Viggo's only goal. John has nothing that Viggo needs, and Viggo himself delivered a huge speech about what an unstoppable badass John is. If anybody should have taken the opportunity to kill John while he was defenseless, it's Viggo."

"When Grandpa Joe gets out of bed and does the silly dance because Charlie found a golden ticket. Grandpa Joe claimed the floor was 'cold' earlier on in the movie."

7. The race crash, Cars (2006)

Pixar

"Chick Hicks is just causing crashes left and right. He puts every single car out of commission except for himself, Strip Weathers, and Lightning McQueen...AND NOBODY SAYS A GODDAMN THING. Everything is peachy-keen until the very end when he almost kills Strip.

And then when Lightning McQueen is pushing Strip across the finish line, the announcers have the fucking gall to say, 'Is pushing on the last lap legal?' Seriously? This car almost killed another car going 200 mph, and they’re worried about a car helping the aforementioned car finish the race?! AND THEN THEY HAND THE GOD DAMN PISTON CUP TO THE CAR THAT HAS BEEN SYSTEMATICALLY MURDERING OTHER CARS ALL SEASON. Jesus Christ, that movie."

8. The makeover, The Breakfast Club (1985)

Universal Pictures

"When they spend a whole movie realizing that, even though they are all part of different cliques, they are actually more alike than they are different...except for the goth girl? She's still too weird, so they have to make her pretty like Molly Ringwald in order to be accepted."

9. The heaven ending, Titanic (1997)

"When Rose dies goes into the afterlife to be with some dude she had a fling with 80 years ago. What about her husband?! The people she spent a lifetime with?! I am making some assumptions, but you get my point."

10. The gifts, Love Actually (2003)

"When Alan Rickman’s character buys the woman in his office a necklace and all his wife gets is a Joni Mitchell CD, especially because she probably already has all those songs anyway. Just a bloke thinking with his dick and not his brain!"

11. The virus, Independence Day (1996)

20th Century Fox

"They bring down the alien defense shield with a computer virus. I’m a security engineer. It ruins the whole movie. Oh really, the Apple PowerBook is compatible with the alien network? What language was the virus programmed in? How did he find the vulnerability? How the fuck did he even understand the alien computer tech in an afternoon, when the scientists who were reverse-engineering it for decades did not? What did he upload it with/how did he interface with the ship? I have dozens more of these questions."

12. The kiss, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (2019)

"Rey and Ben kissing felt pretty unnecessary and borderline unsettling."

Warner Bros.

"This may sound stupid, but when Carrie forgives Big and they get married at City Hall. Don't get me wrong, I'm a big fan of the show, but I hated the overall message it ended on, which basically was, 'No matter how many times someone breaks your heart, humiliates you, and makes you feel unworthy...you should marry them anyway because it's better than being single at your age!'"

"Maybe it’s cliché, but the first scene that comes to my mind when someone says 'pissed off' is the 'SAVE MARTHA' moment...especially because I was kind of liking the movie at that point."

"It didn't really 'piss me off' too much, but it definitely annoyed me that — at the start of the movie — they show the characters' contrasted mornings, and Jason Statham is using American eggs...even though he was meant to be in England."

18. The sponge, The Green Mile (1999)

Warner Bros.

"When that little weasel of a guard, Percy, doesn't wet the sponge for an execution, which results in painfully frying the guy in the chair alive, and then he has the audacity to say that he 'didn't know' it needed to be wet."
