It really amuses me how these innocent suggestions split people into For and Against Tribes! They’re not compulsory, you know! If you don’t think an idea would suit you or your children, then don’t do it. We can all criticise an idea, not all of us can have one. Don’t forget the kids using the rope thing would be quite a lot older than a toddler … unless you’re a crap parent already!!
I meant “blank” not “black”! Sorry
Do you have any room on your bookshelf for anything but books? No, me neither. Anyway, I have a thing about this. Books carry ideas. Paper carries livestock that destroys books. I love books, read A LOT and live in a small bungalow. I pass on books via Freegle when I’ve detatched myself from them and keep my favourites in paper form. However, I own a Kindle *cowers*. Any book that is not particularly beautiful to behold or too old and part of me to part with I buy for my Kindle. I can take loads of books with me and read whenever I have a few minutes - in a queue or waiting room for instance. I listen avidly to what the author is telling me and enjoy the book equally as much. Insisting on having only paper books, or disapproving of the re-cycling of them seems to be disrespectful of the PURPOSE of the book in the first place. Otherwise we would have shelves full of black books! It’s the content that’s important to me - unless it’s an ancient Book of Hours or a signed copy of Shakespeare’s works! Maybe it’s just me … . .
