I’m transitioning to a vegan diet myself and getting past the cheese bit is the hardest part. I hate when people act as if I never liked meat and so it must have been easy to give up. The truth is no, I have enjoyed meat in one form or another for the past 30 years of my life (I completely gave it up on my 30th birthday after eating my last bit of sushi…that was in July). But the hardest part was how long it took me to realize how hypocritical and how severely we compartmentalize our treatment of certain animals. Yes, we live in a modern society and the use of animal products in some things is unavoidable (plywood, as the article mentioned), but if you can avoid animal products, why not do it? Nothing was ever changed by people sitting around and talking about it, you have to be proactive, especially in the things you find injustices with.
