We Tried Making Vodka Cruiser Ice Blocks And They Really Worked Out

Add a bit of extra class to your teenage drinking habits.

Hi, we're Tahlia and Jemima. Like many teens back in the day, we were first introduced to alcohol through the deliciously sweet form of Vodka Cruisers.

Tahlia: I once drank a lot of Cruisers at a house party when I was maybe shy of 18 and I haven't been able to go back since. Sorry Mum, if you're reading this, I definitely had more than my allowed two.

Jemima: I used to drink Cruisers all the time, because when you’re a teenage girl, the idea of sickly-sweet drinks that don’t taste like vodka is extremely appealing. They're secretly still one of my favourite things to drink but I’m not going to rock up at a house party with 10 Guava Cruisers ready to get lit. Mainly because that would cost like $40 and I'm more of a goon sack girl these days.

Now we're in our twenties, it's not often we'll indulge in these bad boys. But summer is on its merry way, so we decided to shake things up by creating Cruiser ice-blocks.

Basically, just buy your favourite flavours, some ice-block molds, and get to work.

A fun twist could also be adding some fresh fruit to the mix when pouring it, or even add a bit of extra alcohol if you're feeling really adventurous. We decided to keep it pretty simple, just like our personalities.

Freeze your colourful concoctions, then patiently wait. We froze the ice-blocks at 11:30am, and checked on them around 2:30pm.

By 5:30pm they were nice and solid but we left them overnight for a breakfast treat.

And tbh guys, they taste really damn delicious.

Tahlia: So I'm not gonna lie, when I first pulled this out, the smell of vodka hit me and I thought, "this won't be as enjoyable as what I hoped." But it was actually VERY tasty and a perfect frozen treat! It's not going to get you tipsy anytime soon, but it's a fun way to liven up any party or gathering.

Jemima: I am a big fan of icypoles and these did not disappoint. They're actually kind of better than drinking an actual Cruiser, to the point where I worry about how quickly I'd demolish a whole tray of these. Not that the alcohol would do anything, but I'd be on a real sugar high. I can definitely see these in my future on a hot summer afternoon.
