This Artist Drew Plus-Size Disney Princesses To Promote Body Positivity In Movies

"It's important for everyone, not just children, to see positive depictions of people like themselves."

This is 30-year-old illustrator Crystal Procknow, from Wisconsin.

As a fan and lifetime viewer of Disney movies, she realised that most Disney princesses were unrealistically skinny.

So, she decided to make plus-size versions of Disney princesses in a series called "Chubby Disney Ladies" on Instagram, to fill that gap.

"According to the majority of kids' movies, stories, and TV shows out there, evil people are fat, or they're dark, or they have big noses. Consciously or unconsciously, we look at people through these filters from a young age," Procknow told BuzzFeed.

Procknow wants to prove how crucial representation is through this series.

"It's important for everyone, not just children, to see positive depictions of people like themselves," she added.

"Variety is beautiful, and essential, and I will continue to promote that message as long as I can," she added.
