19 Reasons Why "Ready Or Not" Is Worth A Trip To The Movies

Get ready for Samara Weaving to become a household name.

    1. First, Ready or Not is a horror/dark comedy that follows Grace, a newlywed who has to partake in a deadly game of hide and seek with her new in-laws on her wedding night.

    2. Looking behind the scenes, the movie was directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, two promising filmmakers who love horror movies.

    3. Also, Ready or Not marks the first feature film for writers Guy Busick and R. Christopher Murphy.

    4. In terms of cast, the movie includes household names like Adam Brody, Andie MacDowell, and Henry Czerny, and up-and-comers like Samara Weaving.

    5. Also, Orphan Black's Kristian Bruun, Wynonna Earp star Melanie Scrofano, and Halt and Catch Fire's Mark O'Brien effortlessly make the leap to the big screen.

    6. While on the surface Ready or Not looks like a campy horror movie, it ends up being so much more.

    7. The film takes the horror movie theme of the rich hunting people for their own selfish gain and gives it a refreshing twist ending.

    8. Samara Weaving's work as Grace is truly spectacular and she creates the perfect protagonist.

    9. Samara doesn't make Grace an expert in this horror world either, which is refreshing. She fumbles for ways to survive and often messes up.

    10. The rest of the Ready or Not cast creates the perfect ensemble of characters for Grace to go up against.

    11. Plus, if you've ever liked an Andie MacDowell movie, you'll love this. It's her first horror movie and she knocks it out of the park as the Le Domas matriarch.

    12. Ready or Not's smaller horror budget works perfectly in its favor too. There are no gratuitous jump scares or super violent scenes to get viewers hooked.

    13. So, if you're a fan of classic horror movies that include buckets (and buckets and buckets) of fake blood, Ready or Not is what you're looking for.

    14. While it's a horror movie at heart, the humor is equally as compelling and perfectly executed.

    15. I mean, there's a scene where one character is watching a YouTube video so he can learn how to shoot an old-fashioned crossbow.

    16. If you still don't believe me about how awesome this movie is, Stephen King praised Samara's performance and the "gorgeous" cinematography.

READY OR NOT is big fun--a variation on the "last girl left" horror movie that is by turns scary and very funny. Samara Weaving is terrific, and the cinematography is gorgeous. The film doesn't reinvent the wheel, but it's damn cool.

    17. Meanwhile, Guillermo del Toro called Ready or Not "suspenseful, scary, and fun."

The trailers and materials for READY OR NOT didn't prepare me for how suspenseful, scary and fun it is- smart, Samara Weaving is terrific in it!

    18. Also, Ready or Not opened in 2,818 theaters making it the widest release for any Fox Searchlight film.

    19. Basically, if you still aren't sold on Ready or Not, think of it as the family dynamics of Succession plus the witty humor of Scream. You can't honestly turn that down, can you?

Ready or Not is currently in theaters!
