NC89 commented on Show Us What A Hangover Cure Looks Like In Your Country

Here in Copenhagen, chocolate milk (preferably Matilde brand) and a quick dip in the harbor is a popular hangover cure.

NC89 commented on Which Movies Are Actually Really Problematic?

How has nobody mentioned Mickey Rooney's portrayal of Mr. Yunioshi in Breakfast at Tiffany's yet? How did anybody ever think that was a good idea? I love the movie but when I watch it I have to fast forward through his scenes because they make me so uncomfortable. 1961 was a very…

NC89 commented on Tell Us About The Best Comfort Foods You Grew Up Eating

I'm from the Midwest, and my absolute favorite comfort food growing up was tuna noodle casserole. My mom is actually a great cook and usually makes everything from scratch, but even she used Campbell's cream of mushroom soup because you don't mess with perfection.

NC89 commented on Tell Us Why You Did Or Didn't Take Your Husband's Last Name

There are a few reasons. First, my mom didn't change her last name and my parents are still happily married 35 years later. Part of me would have felt very regressive changing my last name when she kept hers back when it was even less common to do so. I also felt no need to change…

NC89 commented on What Underrated Rom-Com Do You Really Love?

Never Been Kissed is one of my all time favorite rom-coms. Drew Barrymore is just so damn charming it it, and it's legitimately hilarious.

NC89 commented on What Would You Do If You Won The Lottery?

First I would give 1 million of it to my parents so that they could retire and live in comfort for the rest of their lives. Then I would pay off my and my boyfriend's student debt (so there goes 100K). I would invest about 2 million of it because rich people always seem to find ways…

NC89 commented on What's The Best Place To Travel With Kids?

This may seem like a strange answer, but I have to say that the best place we have ever travelled with our kid is St. Louis, MO. We visited family there earlier this year. There is SO MUCH free stuff to do with your kids, including the world-class zoo, a great art museum (our kid…

NC89 commented on What Books Have Made You Think, "Yay, I'm Not Alone?"

Wild by Cheryl Strayed. It helped me realize that it's ok to forgive myself for my past mistakes and to move forward. It also inspired me to pursue more adventures and to challenge myself beyond what I thought I was capable of.

NC89 commented on Share The Best Underrated Drinking Game You've Ever Actually Played

It's not technically a drinking game, but my new favorite game to play while drinking is Secret Hitler. It has points and winners/losers so it's easy to turn it into a more classic "drinking game." The game is based on social interaction and always ends up being hilarious, I have…

NC89 commented on Which YA Book Does Every Adult Need To Read?

The His Dark Materials trilogy! I adore these books and recommend them to everyone, regardless of age. There is so much more going on than in a typical YA series: philosophy, religious criticism, and the nature of what it means to be "people." The story is so expansive and magical,…
