Just 9 Things From Free People That We Really Love

1. A pair of metallic Birkenstocks for a match made in shoe heaven: supreme comfort (those footbeds though) *and* style.

"This won't come a surprise to anyone who's worn Birks in the past, but you guys: these shoes are SO. DAMN. COMFORTABLE. The minute I slip them on my feet are in heaven: the soft inside layer of the leather straps (which here are topped with a delightful dose of SHINY!!) would never even consider the possibility of leaving you with a blister, even if you walk over sixty blocks in them in the summertime — which I have. Then there's the ergonomic cork footbed that's strategically designed to support feet in the healthy way our skeletons and muscles need. Between the slight bounce I feel in the ball of my foot with every step I take, the arch that contours to my sole as if it was carved out specifically for me, and the fact that my plantar fasciitis heel pain has yet to appear despite the amount of time I've spent on my feet this summer, I genuinely believe it. Oh, and thanks to the thin layer of super-soft suede that's directly underfoot all the time, I don't slip when I get sweaty and I've had no blisters on the bottom of my feet, either (a problem I had with another pair until they were broken in, because their top footbed layer is the finished side of the leather).

Besides the comfy factor, I get more wear out these than that other black pair because gold, silver, and copper are like, the ultimate neutrals that go with whatever other neutrals I put on that day. Naturally the black pair does go with all kinds of things (jeans and tees, black pants, dresses with black in them) but the rose gold pair can go with all of those things plus pretty much anything navy / white / brown / khaki (I don't own any khaki and don't plan to, but if I did! These would go.) I mean, I'm not about to put 'em on with like, more formal business-y type wear, but for 90% of my closet, these are gold. Er, copper." —Natalie Brown

2. An off-the-shoulder mini dress that, unlike most O-T-S clothing, actually STAYS PUT when you raise your arms. Oh, and it checks off basically every other Perfect Dress box, too.

"Let me yell about this dress real quick: I LOVE IT SO MUCH WOW!!!!!! It's really everything you want a dress to be — let me count the ways. It basically doesn't even touch your bod in a lovely, floaty way, making it breezy in sweltering weather. It falls into the category of what I call a 'buffet dress,' meaning it's voluminous and non-constricting so you can go out to dinner and eat a massive meal without needing to unzip/unbutton/suffer generally. IT. HAS. POCKETS. The off-the-shoulder elastic is neither too tight or too loose, and even when you raise your arms to grab the subway pole (gross), it doesn't ride up your shoulders and sit around your neck.

Oh, and it's friggin' cute! This charteusey celery green is my current fave summer hue, but all the colors might end up in my closet. It's super easy to dress up (with a vintage pearl necklace + gold sandals like here — which my coworker said was a 'Sofia Coppola's Marie Antoinette vibe,' aka truly high praise) or dress down with sneaks or a pair of platform Tevas. It's been ideal for such occasions such as: work, going to a beer garden on an intensely humid evening, wearing to brunch where I plan to eat a lot, or just tossing in the suitcase when packing for a vacation so you're Ready For Anything. Free People reviewers love it too — it has 17 reviews with an overall 4.5-star average, which is a lot for their site. 3. Supergoop's City Sunscreen Serum sure to become your favorite sunscreen — one that doesn't feel or smell like typical sunscreen, which mean it's not chalky, doesn't leave any residue or white cast, and *best of all* feels like you're applying any other skincare product — hence the "serum" in its name. And it's super hydrating too!

"Full disclosure: I watch every single one of Eva Chen's (Instagram's head of fashion partnerships) IG stories and have witnessed her recommend this Supergoop sunscreen multiple times, so I knew I had to get my hands on it. I will preface this review with the fact that yes, SPF 30 is a little lower than what I'd normally go for (and for those who definitely want a higher SPF, I recommend my ride-or-die Bioré Aqua Rich Watery Essence), but I'm really not outdoors much and SPF 30 should suffice for working most days in an office (which still requires sunscreen if you're near windows!!!).

I love the lightweight, serum-y formula, which means it blends in super easily and no white cast is left behind — plus, it has a bit of a cooling touch to it! Its formula contains Vitamin E, Vitamin B5, and Hydroviton 24 for ample hydration, which is fab and more than I could ask for in a sunscreen! But y'all, I've read some Amazon reviewers, it is still SUNSCREEN and not an actual, standalone serum — let's get that straight. However, sunscreen *with* skincare benefits is really the only way to go, IMO! I also love the pump because it dispenses the perfect amount, whereas the squeezy format of other sunscreens can get a little tricky. It's undetectable after it's rubbed in and it wears so wonderfully underneath my makeup. I can't imagine life without this. (Maybe one day, it'll even have higher SPF? I can only dream.)" —Sarah Han

"First things first, I love this dress. It's extremely 'aloof barista in 2011,' which is why I picked it out in the first place. When I was an aloof barista in 2011, I didn't have the means to get an adorable, oversized Free People dress that conveyed who I was inside: a Death Cab for Cutie–loving small town girl who loved musical theatre and just learned about Oscar Wilde. Welp, I am still basically all of those things, and now I have the perfect dress to compliment those qualities. So far, I've worn it to an indie dance night and a Broadway show, so it's safe to say both this dress and I contain multitudes, even if they've been the same multitudes for the last eight years. The dress's fabric is thick, meaning it'll be a great dress to throw on well into fall, and the tie at the top acts almost as a necklace, eliminating the need to (find, then) put on jewelry. The sleeves are 10/10 for dancing dramatically. If you planning on doing so any time soon — and I hope you are — I recommend this dress wholeheartedly. "I love being comfortable, but often comfort = looking like a mess. Sweatpants, how could you betray me like this? As a result, I’ve been on the hunt for a summer skirt that would a) make a plain white tee look somewhat trendy, b) feel lightweight enough to not make me feel even sweatier than I already am, and c) could be paired with any kind of shoe. And so ding ding ding, we have a winner in the form of this high-rise Free People midi skirt because it checks off all of the boxes I have just described. I am truly obsessed with it.

For reference, I wore this during a trip to Charleston in which I did everything from visiting a plantation in very hot, very humid weather and then proceeding to walk around for a countless amount of hours (only stopping when ready to eat yet again). It was so breezy and comfy, with the only inconvenience being that people would stop me to compliment my outfit and then proceed to ask where my skirt was from. It’s Free People, people! BUT! I highly recommend going up a size — I listened to other reviewers about that and am so glad I did! The fit is *chef kisses fingers* perfect. "To all the scrunchies I've loved before — ok, there haven't been that many...but these Free People knotted velvet bow scrunchies ARE THE ONES FOR ME! My true loves! I saw a different version of these in a post about cheap things that'll make you look fancy by my dear friend Emma who wants me to spend all of my money, but after some snooping around, I stumbled upon these velvet bows that made my heart soar for these main reasons:

1. I love velvet.

2. I love bows! On everything!

3. I like having my hair up and out of my face, especially at work, because it makes me look less of a frazzled mess! (I'm trying to tame it, ok. It's a process.)

"I ended up liking these overalls SO much more than I expected — at first, I figured I'd wear them as a ~statement piece~ but certainly not frequently. Well, I was WRONG. The great thing about these overalls is that they surprisingly double as a basic! They go with just about every top in my closet so I can dress 'em up or down, and they've transitioned well into the summer (at least when it's not 1,000 degrees). 9. A Mad Hippie vitamin C serum that's like a big ole glass of OJ for your face — and unlike many vitamin C products, is good to go on sensitive skin (like mine!).

"After basically finally getting my acne and sensitive skin in control (or as in control as if could be), I decided my next skincare frontier would be trying to fade some of the scarring a few bouts of cheek acne left behind — and getting that facial glow I crave. I'd put this Mad Hippie vitamin C serum into a few posts (and marveled at the reviews and review photos across several retailers) — particularly reviewers who said they have sensitive skin and had great success! So I thought 'what the heck, let's do it.' That was a few months ago, and now I can add my voice to the chorus of fans proclaiming the benefits of this serum.

I put it on at night (vitamin C can cause sun sensitivity and I am already SUPER SENSITIVE to the sun, so make sure you also put on a good sunscreen in the morning!) after cleansing and toning, and before moisturizer. After just a couple weeks, the pigmentation on my cheeks definitely reduced, and some pesky rough texture on my chin and nose faded away. I definitely noticed glow-ier and plumper skin when I woke up in the morning. The acne marks on my cheeks are basically totally gone, and my skin feels brighter than ever.
