SOUND THE ALARMS. ALERT THE PRESSES (OTHER THAN ME, I GUESS). RING THE BELLS AND IDK... CHANGE UR DIAPER. 'Cause Lizzie McGuire is coming back, and besides announcing today that Adam Lamberg will be reprising his role as Gordo, Hilary Duff finally shared a picture that restored my faith in the reboot. Let me explain.
One of the first pics that my gal Hil shared of a 30-year-old Lizzie was this one:
And I gotta admit, I was not pleased!!! Because I'm sorry but LIZZIE WOULD NOT DRESS LIKE THAT.
You see, I always pictured an older version of Lizzie to have more of a Phoebe Buffay vibe.
This sort of adult look makes sense to me!
I mean, it just works.
So yeah, like I said, seeing this photo and proclaiming whoever this person is as "Lizzie" seemed...not right!
But by the good graces of the Disney+ gods and also Hilary Duff, a newer, and, in my opinion, much more improved version of Lizzie was shown off today (with Gordo).
Now THIS is the adult Lizzie's look that I'm talkin' about!!! THIS IS CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT BUT ALSO STAYING TRUE TO WHO LIZZIE IS AS A PERSON.
1) Someone with bangs who wears tie-dye.
And 2) only wears shirts that are of a thin mesh fabric.
And to add to my newfound faith in the show, Hilary also posted a pic of Lizzie in a Lisa Frank shirt. More on-brand than the yellow duster jacket and plaid skirt suit!!!!!
In conclusion: I'm relieved and happy to have gotten this off my chest. Onward and upward with the reboot we go.
