I was once in a production or Mulan Jr. and during "You'll Bring Honor To Us All" the girl who played Mulan turned around with a nose bleed. They had to keep improvising until our stage manager called hold. They had to mop up the stage, and 15 minutes later, the show continued.

"Whatever works" as in, whatever works for your partner and whatever makes them happy. If doing chores for your partner makes you happy, I guess go for it, but people shouldn't base their actions on what their partner tells them to do. It's not their job to make you do anything.
