I Ranked 33 Disney Villains From “A Toddler Could Beat You In A Fight” To “This Is A Job For The Avengers”

If baby Rapunzel decided to give herself a haircut, it would've been over for Mother Gothel!

Even the most casual Disney fan knows that the villains are often more interesting than the heroes. I mean, why else would Maleficent have such a passionate fanbase?

However, not every Disney villain is created equal. For every Maleficent, there's a Mr. Smee. As a self-identified Disney Adult™, I feel qualified to rank them from least to most powerful.

So, without further ado, here is a definitive ranking of 33 Disney villains on a scale of "A Toddler Could Beat You in a Fight" to "This Is a Job for the Avengers":

    33. The Heffalumps and Woozles from The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh:

stuffed elephant and weasel in Pooh's dream
    Disney / Via Disney+

Don't get me wrong, they're definitely nightmare fuel, but they're at the bottom of the list because they're not real in Pooh's world or ours. They're simple figments of his imagination, and they can be defeated by waking up.

    32. Oogie Boogie from The Nightmare Before Christmas:

a sack of flies come to life fights Santa Claus
    Disney / Via Disney+

He's quite literally a bag of bugs. He could be defeated by a strong gust of wind. Also, I truly can't stand him, so I'm putting him here.

    31. Sid from Toy Story:

Sid is afraid of the talking toys
    Pixar / Via Disney+

    He's a literal child.

    30. King Candy from Wreck-It Ralph:

tiny King Candy watches the Sugar Rush racers
    Disney / Via Disney+

A toddler could simply mash the game controls and delete him. Next.

    29. Lotso Bear from Toy Story 3:

a sentient teddy bear comes to speak with Jessie
    Pixar / Via Disney+

One tea party in a mud puddle, and it's over for him.

    28. Zurg from Toy Story 2:

Buzz'z arch nemesis in action figure form
    Pixar / Via Disney+

He's only ranked higher than Lotso because he's probably a choking hazard.

    27. Clayton from Tarzan:

a hunter with a shotgun escorts Jane into the jungle
    Disney / Via Disney+

He wouldn't last a day without his weapons.

    26. Mother Gothel from Tangled

Mother Gothel gazes at herself in the mirror
    Disney / Via Disney+

Using the toddler to Avengers scale, she could easily be bested by a toddler. Imagine if 3-year-old Rapunzel had gotten hold of a pair of scissors and decided to play hairdresser — it would've been over for Mother Gothel in a heartbeat.

    25. Lady Tremaine from Cinderella

the wicked stepmother yells at Cinderella
    Disney / Via Disney+

She's a bully, but, like...that's it. No magic, just spite.

    24. Gantu from Lilo and Stitch

a giant shark-like alien captures Lilo
    Disney / Via Disney+

He ROUTINELY loses to a 5-year-old and her cuddly alien friend, and he takes orders from a talking gerbil to boot.

    23. Queen of Hearts from Alice in Wonderland

the queen introduces herself to Alice
    Disney / Via Disney+

She's the kind of person who asks to speak to your manager, then the TikTok you make about her goes viral. If the people under her command simply stopped listening every time she yelled, "Off with their head!", she'd be powerless.

    22. Gaston from Beauty and the Beast

Gaston juggling eggs in his tavern
    Disney / Via Disney+

He's supposedly strong because he eats five dozen eggs, but he lost to a glorified Ikea showroom. Not a good look.

    21. Evil Queen from Snow White

the Evil Queen has a box for Snow White's heart
    Disney / Via Disney+

All that magic, and the best she can come up with is a spicy apple? Joke's on her, because toddlers are picky eaters, so she'd need to go right back to the drawing board (or cauldron).

    20. Cruella De Vil from 101 Dalmatians

Cruella hangs out her car window to watch the puppies escape
    Disney / Via Disney+

She was taken down by puppies, so I don't think it would be much harder for a group of determined preschoolers.

    19. Captain Hook from Peter Pan

    Disney / Via Disney+

He's spent his entire life being afraid of the children who live on Neverland when he literally owns a boat — just sail away.

    18. Prince John from Robin Hood

a lion king and his snake bestie whisper evil plans to each other
    Disney / Via Disney+

Honestly, his pet snake does all the villainy for him.

    17. Hans from Frozen

Hans convinces the people of Arendelle that they need to hunt down elsa
    Disney / Via Disney+

He's a manipulative jerk, but defeating him would've been simple if Anna had a group chat of friends to go all FBI on him.

    16. Yzma from The Emperor's New Groove

    Yzma smiles at Kronk
    Disney / Via Disney+

We stan a woman in STEM, but if she wanted to be ranked higher, she'd need to label her poisons better.

    15. Shere Khan from The Jungle Book

    Disney / Via Disney+

He's a tiger. Unlike a lot of the people below him on this list, he doesn't need a crown or magic powers to be scary — he has sharp teeth and claws for that.

    14. Scar from The Lion King

    Scar lords over the hyenas
    Disney / Via Disney+

He's not the strongest villain physically, but his emotional manipulation skills are powerful enough to bump him above the other big cat.

    13. Bellwether from Zootopia

the mayor's assistant reveals her evil plan
    Disney / Via Disney+

She's basically the same as Scar, but she's ranked higher than him because no one suspected she was the villain.

    12. Syndrome from The Incredibles

Syndrome traps the Incredibles in a laser beam
    Pixar / Via Dinsey+

He could be defeated by a very specific toddler — Jack Jack.

    11. Mr. Toad from The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad

Mr Toad sits on the stirrup of a horse
    Disney / Via Disney+

Though technically the protagonist, Mr. Toad is the villain of his own story. He may be just a toad, but his ego makes him dangerous. I mean, Mr. Toad's Wild Ride at Disneyland takes "Highway to Hell" literally.

    10. Honest John and Gideon from Pinocchio

the nefarious cat and fox hatch a plan
    Disney / Via Disney+

Again, manipulation is a powerful weapon, and these two are masters of it.

    9. Shan Yu from Mulan

the leader of the Huns glares at the rival army across the valley
    Disney / Via Disney+

The emperor was lucky to have Mulan on his side! Also, Shan Yu gets bonus points for his super cool bird sidekick.

    8. Frollo from The Hunchback of Notre Dame

    evil priest
    Disney / Via Disney+

He probably taught Honest John, Gideon, Scar, and Hans everything they know.

    7. Tamatoa from Moana

a giant bedazzled hermit crab dangles Moana in the air
    Disney / Via Disney+

He's one of the few villains who's super powerful by brute force alone. If he didn't crush you, then you'd still never find your way out of his jewelry collection. This is about the time you'd need to start calling in your favors with S.H.I.E.L.D. I think Spider-Man could take him down.

    6. Jafar from Aladdin

evil sorcerer and his parrot bestie
    Disney / Via Disney+

He came pretty close to taking down an entire kingdom, but he didn't have the power of foresight. If he'd done a little more homework on what being a genie entails, then he'd be ranked much higher. Shuri would've noticed that. He gets bonus points for Iago, though.

    5. Ursula from The Little Mermaid

Ursula commands her eels to capture Eric
    Disney / Via Disney+

Might? Check. Magic powers? Check. Manipulation? Check. However, Hulk could probably beat her in a fight.

    4. Maleficent from Sleeping Beauty

the witch and her crow visit the palace
    Disney / Via Disney+

Like Ursula, she's the total villain package, but she also breathes fire. Also, not only does she have a cool bird sidekick, but she has a shapeshifting bird sidekick. However, Scarlet Witch could've defeated her.

    3. Dr. Facilier from The Princess and the Frog

Dr Facilier shows off his dakr powers
    Disney / Via Disney+

I wouldn't want to mess with this man and his friends on the other side. You might need help from the Revengers to get yourself out of this battle.

    2. Hades from Hercules

    Greek god of death
    Disney / Via Disney+

Hercules had to change fate to defeat him. That's definitely a job I'd leave to Dr. Strange.

    1. And finally: Chernabog from Fantasia

    giant demon
    Disney / Via Disney+

Chernabog is basically the devil, so he might actually be worse than Thanos. You'd need all of the Avengers, the Guardians of the Galaxy, the X-Men, Shang-Chi, and the Eternals to defeat him.
