Just 35 Things Under $20 You'll Be Glad You Bought

Finds ranging from fun to practical that you won't regret spending a few bucks on.

    1. AirPods-compatible hooks for anyone who hasn't wanted to admit that their beloved, trendy, high-tech earbuds don't actually stay in their ears very well. Even if they do, you could definitely use a little extra protection against losing such splurge-y items, especially when exercising or on the go.

Promising review: "The hooks are comfortable and solve the problem of the earbuds falling out over and over again. An unexpected benefit is that the Pods can sit gently on the ear; no need to shove them inside to secure them. I can barely feel the Pods or the hooks. Glad I found these…they solve all problems. And I can wear my glasses while wearing them. Great price, too." —TutorMaven

Get them from Amazon for $10.49.

    2. A rich velvet jewelry box that makes the most of its small size. The built-in mirror folds down to reveal a section for necklaces, and it'll be equally great for popping in your suitcase or displaying on your vanity. Plus, it's just plain pretty.

green velvet square box open to reveal three compartments and a side panel for rings plus a mirror
two cases with the mirror folded down revealing hooks and a pocket for necklaces
    two boxes zipped closed

Promising review: "Really amazing value — it looks pretty luxe but I can't believe the price I bought it for, especially considering how expensive jewelry boxes can be. I use this one for travel and it's perfect (I have a larger one for all my jewelry as well. I really like that you can move the little dividers in the bottom compartment around, too; that's been very helpful." —Dee

Get it from Amazon for $15.29 (available in three colors).

    3. An amazing exfoliating mitt you can use after a long shower or bath soak to get a simultaneously luxurious and kinda gross (but in a satisfying way!!!) exfoliation experience that'll leave you feeling like a whole new person.

Promising review: "Let me start by saying, I never knew that I was a walking, living, breathing mummy zombie lady. The first time I used this glove, I soaked in the bath to get my skin nice and prepped. I whipped that thing out expecting a bit of skin to fluff off, but what ensued was 30 minutes straight of scrubbing skin off that had built up since I was a toddler. I swore at one point I found old Band-Aid goo that had been buried under years of dead skin. Ok, maybe that's not true, but with the amount of dead skin that came off my body, it could have been! I finally finished removing my snake skin and began draining the bathtub. What was left was like a scene from a horror movie. The entire bottom of the bathtub couldn't be seen because of the numerous chunks of dead skin clinging to it. That's not counting what went down the drain. I can only imagine that the creatures down there will one day rise to hunt me down and eat me because they gained an affinity for the taste of my flesh. I had to take an extra 15 minutes to clean my bathtub due to the gray, zombie skin that refused to be rinsed away. In other words, if you don't want to be a mummy, zombie person, this glove is your ticket to the living realm. Buy the glove, join the living — thank me later." —Shannon Graham

    4. An adorable but also durable squeaky plush duck beloved by the pups of over 5,000 reviewers. It can survive longer than most toys even with pooches who love to tear things up, so it's sure to fit the ~bill~ and become the most indispensable toy in their box.

Rockie with toys he ripped after four days and his still perfect duck
Cane Corso with fuzzy yellow duck
    AnaMaria Glavan/BuzzFeed, www.amazon.com

BuzzFeed Shopping editor AnaMaria Glavan's Frenchie, Rockie, usually destroys toys in days, but this cutie lasted him MONTHS. She also says the squeaky sound wasn't too annoying — bless. Check out AnaMaria's full Duckworth dog toy review.

Promising review: "My mini Aussie loves to find the weakest spot of a stuffed toy. Once he does, he then meticulously pulls out all of the stuffing inside, while making sure to leave the tiniest hole possible. We typically avoid stuffed toys altogether to avoid the mess, but I saw all the good reviews for Duckworth and decided to roll the dice! My husband laughed out loud when I pulled this out of the package, and made a bet with me that it wouldn't last the weekend. I'm happy to report that it has been two solid weeks and Duckworth is still with us! Not only is he alive (fully intact, too) but our Aussie LOVES him! Sure, he plays rough with him from time to time, but he also snuggles him and carries him around everywhere. It's like his baby. I'm sure Duckworth will eventually meet his demise, but we're just happy he's survived two full weeks. :)" —Whitney

Note that if your pup does love to chew, they shouldn't be left unsupervised with even the most durable toys!

    5. A truly delightful set of patterned nail wrap stickers that will make it look like you got professional nail art done, but are actually a fraction of the price and will probably last longer.

model in nail stickers with different complementary designs — animal prints, clouds, red with smiley faces, solid pink, mint with an eyelash graphic, and mint with a pink squiggle
    Shop Sawyer And Scout/Etsy

I just ordered this set after trying out a different, now-sold-out pattern from this Utah-based shop, because I had to have more. I'm honestly blown away — I've had these stickers on for over a week and they are still over 90% intact on every finger, and not a single one has fallen off since I applied them. As if that wasn't enough, they're somehow only FIVE BUCKS. They weren't hard to apply or shape to my nails at all. All of that + the fact that this small biz makes tons and tons more designs for their wraps  (which are made from real nail polish on medical-grade adhesive) = many more orders in my future. The only thing I didn't like was that there was a lot of pesky peeling involved to access each sticker, and that combined with my short nails mean that the process made a decent amount of waste. Still, I'm super excited about finding this brand, and the fact that each set comes with a few extras means you have backups if you mess up *or* you can save them for future manis to come (hello accent nails!). And psst, another tip: I finished off my mani with my favorite Orly top coat.

Get 16 wraps from Sawyer and Scout on Etsy for $4.99.

    6. Or, if you want a long-lasting mani with traditional polish, Orly's Bonder base coat that will change your nail game for good. It'll keep that beautiful mani/pedi you worked so hard on intact for days (perhaps weeks) to come, and actually make your nails easier to paint.

    bottle of the product
    reviewer's matte burgundy nails

The reviewer with the gorg mani above said their nails stayed perfect after a long day of gardening and housework! I personally am an Orly devotee as well — I love pretty much all their products that I've tried, and their polish bottles have an excellent grippy handle. After seeing the amazing reviews for the base coat, I tried it too, and I'm blown away. The product calls itself "rubberized," which is a great way to describe the not unpleasantly sticky way it leaves your nails ready to better stick to polish. The major bonus is that with this, my clumsy self is able to do a better job painting my nails to begin with. Because of said rubbery stickiness, my polish brush doesn't slip all over the place or over the edges of my super-short nails. I'm able to do a way cleaner, more precise job, which then lasts longer too. I'm now able to take it for granted that my nails will stay looking pretty good for close to a week. That's way longer than usual for me, so TL;DR, this is an all-around win-win and a *must* buy.

Promising review: "JUST BUY IT. This stuff is amazing. Prior to using this, my nails would last two, AT MOST three days without chipping. Now that I use this as a base coat, my manicures last at least a week with no major chipping. The very edge or tip might become worn down a little, but it's definitely not noticeable. I could probably keep them looking decent for two weeks if I added another coat of topcoat and was a little more careful with them. I was skeptical about buying this at first because I wasn't sure that a base coat would make much of a difference in the longevity of my manicure. I thought the secret to lasting nails mostly depended on the topcoat used, but I was wrong. Doing my nails is a lot more fun now that I don't have to worry about chipping after two days!" —Elizabeth

    8. Totally ~clawsome~ and trendy colorful nonslip hair claw clips with over 15,000 5-star ratings from folks who say they can up(do) the heavy lifting.

matte pink, brown, green, and black large claw clips
teal clip holding up reviewer's hair

Promising review: "I have worn these every day since I got them! They have a soft matte feel. The colors match the product photos perfectly. They have a good grip in my hair (I have collarbone-length, medium thickness hair, but a lot of it). I think these would work well for almost any length or thickness of hair, though. They are strong; you can tell because they take a bit of effort to open them at first. Bottom line, if you’re unsure if you should buy them, you should." —Samantha

    9. A bath toy organizer you can stick on the wall with suction cups, so your kiddo's bathtime fun isn't as miserable of a cleanup for you. The mesh material will let them easily drain, and it'd work great for adults' bath product storage, too.

    Amazon

Promising review: "So far I love this!!!! I've purchased two other items similar to this at my local Babies R Us, but they never actually stay on the wall or hold all of his bath toys. This product is by far the best thing I've spent money on in a while. It keeps my son's toys all organized and up out of the way. Updated review — my husband and I love this thing so much we had to purchase one for our stuff too! They save so much room compared to those big bulky metal ones!" —Olivia

    10. Oh Yuk jetted tub cleaner that'll clean your jets in just 15 minutes and is named for exactly what you'll say when you see all the gunk that was hiding in them and would still be there if it weren't for this magical stuff.

reviewer holding cleaner bottle over foaming tub
another reviewer's foamy tub with brown gunk from the jets

    It's from a family-owned, Minnesota-based company!

Promising review: "Oh my gosh! You think your tub is clean and then you see what comes out with this! I followed the directions (fill tub over jets, pour in cleaner, turn on jets). Almost immediately, disgusting residue shot out. And then most came out as the chemical had time to circulate. So glad I got this cleaner instead of sitting in filth, especially because we just bought a new house and I thought, 'Maybe I should try to find out if there is a special cleaner for these tubs.' Glad I did and can know my tub is cleaned out." —Aaron Johnson

    Amazon

It's got pages to note day-to-day spending as well as a monthly overview calendar, so you can stay organized no matter your planning style. It's got a sturdy hardcover and is even small enough to fit in your everyday tote.

Promising review: "I love this simple, sturdy, and cute budget planner. I prefer budget planners over apps. Writing down a budget plan makes a lot of difference, just like writing down your goals rather than just talking about them. This planner is sturdy and has individual sections that can be customized. The best part is the bill tracker, which is a single sheet that shows how much you spend on a particular bill every month. I'll definitely be buying this year after year." —Maya07

    12. An incredibly helpful blind spot mirror that'll quite simply help you be a better, safer driver — and who wouldn't want that?

    Amazon

It comes with an optional adjustable swivel base!

Promising review: "I got this on a whim that it would improve my driving experience and it has significantly. I did not attach the swivel base as others had mentioned in these reviews and my experience has been great. Lets you see your blind spot pretty well. Where it really shines is parking and backing up, it gives a ton more visibility." —Stork

    13. Cloud Paint, Glossier's bestselling gel-cream blush that's cruelty-free, buildable, and absolutely beloved by reviewers.

    model wearing natural-looking pink blush
tubes of the product in different shades
    Glossier

Promising review: "I've been on the hunt for years to replicate that rosy 'just went for a run' look that my cheeks get when I work out, and the blushes I thought were close were either too red or pinky and artificial looking. I saw the shade Storm and I was worried it would be too dark on my light-medium skin but it's not! It blends *s e a m l e s s l e y* into a healthy flush that looks exactly it's my own skin and not makeup. The texture is unlike any cream or liquid blush I've tried, it evenly disperses the pigment as you blend it in with your fingers or a foundation brush and you don't have to worry about overdoing it." —BabydollyVintage

Get it from Glossier for $18 (available in eight colors).

    14. A set of sandwich-cutting tools that are basically the holy grail if your kids are sandwich-crust-refusing picky eaters. No more PB&J leaking all over their lunch box or time spent tediously trimming off the crusts when trying to get them out the door for school.

the triangle, square, and circle cutters
    round sealed edge sandwiches

Each of the three included shapes has three pieces: a small cutter to cut meat, cheese, and other fillings into the right size, a sandwich cutter, and a sealing tool. The package even comes with cute joke cards to pack in your kiddo's lunch box!

Promising review: "My whole family is a huge fan of the traditional store-bought versions of these sandwiches. But I hate the price! I’m so glad I gave these cutters a try because, in less than an hour and with a single loaf of bread, I made two varieties of sandwiches that would’ve cost me over $10 in a grocery store. These cutters will definitely pay for themselves over time! You do have a significant amount of crust waste with each sandwich, but if you google recipes for bread pudding, you can use the scraps to make yourself a really tasty dessert! This is going to be a game-changer for school lunches, and I can’t wait to experiment with other flavor combos for my kids!" —J. L. McHale

    15. A roll-on headache and migraine relief stick, which I haven't stopped recommending since I first tried — and I don't plan on stopping any time soon. It's the perfect size to keep in your bag or pocket for when that mid-day tension headache creeps in.

I started using this magical product (which is made with peppermint, spearmint, and lavender essential oils) a few years ago and since then have told approximately 1,089,642 people about it. I keep one in my purse and one on my dresser, and I reorder before I'm actually close to running out. While it won't kill a major migraine on its own, it feels super soothing and cooling. If I end up taking ibuprofen for my headache, this is really nice to use while it kicks in. Also, if I just have a slight headache or just the beginnings of one, a few swipes of this (lightly on my temples and forehead and as heavily as I want on my neck) can actually knock it out or delay it getting worse. It's so great to help me get through my busy days, and I really wish I'd had it during high school and college to help me get through the day then! Read my full review here.

Promising review: "I LOVE this stuff. I initially ordered two, one for myself and another for my pregnant boss. She was getting a lot of headaches at the start of her third trimester and couldn’t take anything for them due to being pregnant, so I figured it was a good time to try this finally. Immediately I loved it. The smell is amazing and it works fairly quickly. Relief starts in one-two minutes and lasts for about an hour before I need to reapply. I get migraines so when I need immediate relief, I’ll use the stick then take whatever medication I have on me. This product helps to take the edge off a migraine before the medication kicks in. As for my boss, she was equally impressed. After using it a few times she thanked me profusely because before she'd had to just tough out any headaches she got. I still use this and it’s lasted a long time! It also helps if my neck is sore from sleeping/sitting at my desk all day. It does leave a little greasy residue so I try to pull my hair up while it’s drying. 10/10, will absolutely purchase again when I run out!" —Emily

Promising review: "This is the little gadget I didn't know I needed. My laptop was a mess. I barely ever clean it. This little retractable brush is soft but got away the hidden crumbs. The microfiber cleaner is a microfiber cover over a firm base. It's small but effective. You can clean both the brush on the microfiber with basic soap and water. white stopper along bottom of a door
brown version along bottom of a reviewer's door, the colors match well so it's subtle

Promising review: "Why did I wait so long? I've been struggling with door stoppers and/or rolled-up rugs to keep the cold air out. Finally got tired of how unattractive it was to have a rolled blanket in front of the door, but none of the regular door stoppers worked very well and got all bunched up. After researching ways to keep the cold air from coming in under the door, I came upon this under-door seal. Decided to try it and so happy. It was so easy, and it looks so nice. You can't really tell it's there, and so far it's stopped cold air. Just got it today but from what I can tell it looks like it will stay put for awhile, and if not they included some extra tacks that could be used, but the glued strip seems pretty strong. I highly recommend it, and the price is so reasonable." —Nancy H.

I always forget 10 minutes later if I actually took my medicine or just put it down. I’ve tried so many different ways, making marks on the bottle, making stickers, and other pill containers. None ever work. And pill containers are so bulky when I only need one pill." —Niki

After finishing (it did take a bit of time, the tool is small) my floors and seats of my van look BRAND-NEW!!! I would pay triple the amount I paid for this tool. I've never seen anything like it! We own a pretty heavy duty shop vacuum and it didn't even scratch the surface. We also tried every type of pet/lint roller we could find and nothing came close. This tool will blow your mind! 29. A universal smartphone mount that can fit in your pocket and go with you anywhere to revolutionize your experience working from home, making video calls, and especially watching movies on planes.

reviewer's phone playing a movie and clipped to a closed airplane tray table

Promising review: "I bought this nifty gadget for a multi-leg, ultra-long-haul trip and it more than held up the entire duration. I was able to adjust it to fit the tray tables on different planes and like others, I find the height just nice when clamped onto a stowed tray table. It also works on my roller carry-on handle during layovers. However, I find myself using it a lot outside of travel too! Work-wise, I've clamped it onto my office desk shelving to hold my phone at eye level beside my computer. At home, I simply clamped it to a deck of cards and it turns into a versatile stand that I can place on any flat surface. Heck, I've been using it to hold my phone comfortably at eye level while watching videos in bed. It's extremely well-built and I find myself fidgeting with it all the time. Thus far it still feels solid and I don't anticipate breaking it any time soon. Even if it does break, I'll be happy to buy another one or two of it!" —Earendil

    Stonewall Kitchen

BuzzFeed shopping editor Emma Lord is obsessed with this stuff. She says, "This aioli is a combo of creamy mayo + slow roasted garlic + the teensiest hint of mustard, giving it a rich, umami-esque flavor with a perfect amount of tang that pairs well with pretty much all nondessert foods — a true life hack of a condiment for anyone who has no idea how to cook, but is determined to live a lie." reviewer in bright blue leggings

Promising review: "Holy crap, these leggings are amazing. Without exaggeration, they are the most comfortable item of clothing I've ever put on my body. I'm 5'10" and I often find 'one size' to be too short, but these fit down to my ankle. The best part is, the top doesn't roll and they don't slide down. Keeping in mind I'm wearing them during winter, they also didn't make me sweat. I didn't want to take them off. I need to order a billion pairs, including a few to wear to bed." —Avery T

    32. An easy-to-grip Oxo veggie brush, because no one really likes dealing with the dirt on produce. But it'll be much more satisfying with this baby that can seriously turn your spuds into ~studs~ and put your old scrubber to shame.

I ordered this to use while I'm home with my family and while we haven't used it yet, we were impressed with the size! It's much larger than the kind of pitiful scrub brushes we were using before *and* dishwasher safe. Not surprised; Oxo products are always top-notch IMHBNSHBIASEO (In my humble-but-not-so-humble-because-I'm-a-shopping-editor opinion)! And my coworker Natalie Brown has used it to scrub carrots and she said the results were just as awesome as in the pics above.

Promising review: "This brush is awesome!! I added some before and after photos of a potato I was scrubbing, and you can see how well the dirt comes off! Very sturdy and durable and the bristles are stiff, which is optimal for cleaning. Easy to hold and does a great job. Definitely recommend!!" —McKinley

    33. A trusty pair of scissors that are simply a ~cut~ above the rest and deserve a place of honor in your drawer or on your desk.

    Amazon

Promising review: "I’ve tried finding scissors that stay sharp and cut nicely for ages. I have so many different pairs and brands, and none of them compare to these. They’re sharp, they’ve stayed sharp, and cutting straight lines is pretty much effortless (which is usually not an easy thing since I have a tremor). They fit really comfortably in my hand. I love them! My mom had a pair when I was growing up that she was — and still is, she’s had them for about 35 years — incredibly protective of, we knew not to ever use them, and I never understood why until I got my own pair. I’ve spent a lot more on scissors that don’t come close to these. They’re a great price for a great pair of quality scissors." —sophiehehe
