Gen Z Has Apparently "Canceled" These 10 Emojis, So I'm Curious To Know If You Think They're OK To Use

The thumbs-up emoji has been called "uncool" and "passive aggressive" — and Gen Z'ers think using it makes you seem "old."

According to a survey of 2,000 people between the ages of 16 and 29, the 10 emojis pictured below make you seem old. But not just old — some Gen Z'ers think the thumbs-up emoji, for example, is also hostile and passive aggressive.

The only thing more "uncool" than claiming that Gen Z is "canceling" emojis, though, is debating whether Gen Z is right — but I am what I am (a thirtysomething with back problems), so that's what we're going to do anyway.
