"We are as indestructible as we believe ourselves to be."
"Looking for Alaska is my favorite John Green book and I got this tattoo to remind me to recognize and love my flaws because they make me human." –caitlinswan15
"My favourite part of my favourite book - and it’s in my mom’s handwriting too!" – kaitydt
“'She did not need to fold into herself and self-destruct. Those awful things are survivable because we are as indestructible as we believe ourselves to be.' – Looking For Alaska
I read this book while recovering from my eating disorder. I was at my lowest point emotionally - desperately needing something - and once I reached this line, I started sobbing. From then on, I started repeating this phrase as needed whenever I felt low. My friends would say it to me, my family would remind me of it. It’s helped me heal by remembering that I have more power than I think. I got it as a reminder of how far I’ve come and to repeat it as needed." –kelseya4e6390d9e
"I stumbled upon the 10th anniversary edition of Looking For Alaska, it features a Q&A from John Green and it reminded me why I fell in love with the book in the first place. A few years ago this book saved my life. I was depressed and failing to see why I needed to be around. After completing the book I saw things differently, myself included. I got this tattoo on a whim during a rough patch in my life. I felt my world spinning around me and the rope that kept me grounded was remembering how I felt when I finished Looking For Alaska. Alaska’s death is tragic but her life was wonderful. She was loved, she lived loudly and with passion. She was a person who, despite flaws, was something beautiful. I hope to be a hurricane. A force of nature that is beautiful despite its dark flaws." – raynamarie
"When I first read The Fault In Our Stars, this quote really stuck with me. Growing up, I always had these words in my head that I could never seem to put out into the world. I couldn’t organize my thoughts and I didn’t have the confidence to speak how I truly felt most of the time. I started writing more after reading the book and it really helped me get out the words that I never could before. I just love this quote." – kylieh4a2dc1b24
"When I read The Fault In Our Stars, Augustus’ fear of oblivion and not leaving anything behind to be remembered by really stuck with me. This little oblivion motivates me to go after what I want." – chelseatot
"'We need never be hopeless' from the last paragraph of Looking for Alaska. I really like how it lets you know that it’s okay to make mistakes when you're young because, how else would you learn and grow?" – jessil47bfc7821
"Pain must be addressed before it consumes you. The semicolon represents that my story, although painful, is not over yet." – katieonbooks
"'Luck is for suckers' - Alaska Young. Part of a collage with my favorite lyrics and book quotes." – i426f32078
"From the long quote, 'So I walked back to my room and collapsed on the bottom bunk, thinking that if people were rain, I was drizzle and she was a hurricane". –hannahkayc2
"It helps me when I’m struggling with my depression; François Rabelais wasn’t sure what was going to happen to him next, but he was going to seek it anyway. I think that’s pretty goddamn inspirational." – ellens4ad74e8ea
"You will go to the paper towns and you will never come back." – uanjwrite
"I don't know where there is but I believe it's somewhere and I hope it's beautiful." – twitter.com/elenacleaves
