Here's What The "True Blood" Cast Looks Like 10 Years After The Pilot

HBO brought sexy vampires back into our lives on September 7, 2008.

Anna Paquin (Sookie Stackhouse)

Then: True Blood premiered two years after Paquin's third stint as Rogue in the X-Men films. She was featured in multiple movies in 2007, including the cult hit Trick 'r Treat. She began dating her co-star, Stephen Moyer, during the filming of the pilot. In 2009, she won a Golden Globe for her portrayal of Sookie Stackhouse.

Now: Last year, Paquin could be seen on Alias Grace, Bellevue, and Electric Dreams. She was featured in multiple films this year, including The Parting Glass, which was directed by Stephen Moyer, her now-husband.

Stephen Moyer (Bill Compton)

Then: The year before True Blood premiered, Moyer was featured in the mini-series The Starter Wife and Lilies. In 2008, he also starred in the movie Restraint. In 2009, he became engaged to Paquin.

Now: Moyer is keeping X-Men in the family, currently starring in The Gifted. Last year, he was also featured in Safe House and Shots Fired. The Parting Glass was his directorial film debut, but he had previously directed three episodes of True Blood.

Sam Trammell (Sam Merlotte)

Then: Trammell made many televisions appearances the year before landing the role of Sam. He also co-starred in Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem and continued making television and short film appearances during True Blood.

Now: Trammell has many upcoming projects. He can be seen in Hospitality and It's Time later this year and in multiple things next year, including Nancy Drew and the Hidden Staircase and the mini-series, Reckoning.

Rutina Wesley (Tara Thornton)

Then: Tara Thornton was one of Wesley's first roles. She was previously seen in the 2007 film How She Move. She was also featured in an episode of Numb3rs soon after True Blood began.

Now: Wesley was featured in an episode of Arrow in 2017 and currently stars as Nova Bordelon in Queen Sugar. The role has earned her much praise, and the show was just renewed for a fourth season.

Ryan Kwanten (Jason Stackhouse)

Then: In 2006 and 2007, Kwanten was featured in Flicka and Dead Silence. A few months after True Blood began, he could be seen in an episode of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.

Now: He's currently starring in The Oath, which was just renewed for a second season. He can also be seen in the 2018 films The Hurricane Heist and Supercon.

Chris Bauer (Andy Bellefleur)

Then: Bauer made appearances in many television episodes right before landing the role of Andy Bellefleur, and was featured in the film Diminished Capacity. Like Rutina Wesley, he also appeared in an episode of Numb3rs in 2008.

Now: Last year, he co-starred in Law & Order True Crime as Tim Rutten and The Deuce as Bobby Dwyer. This year, he was featured in episodes of Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Modern Family, and has some feature films in the works.

Carrie Preston (Arlene Fowler)

Then: In 2007, Preston did episodes of Lost and Desperate Housewives. In 2008, she had roles in two Oscar-nominated films, Doubt and Vicky Cristina Barcelona.

Now: Preston is currently all over television. She's had recurring roles on The Good Fight and Brockmire and currently stars in Claws. You can also catch her in the upcoming films 30 Miles from Nowhere and Avalanche.

Jim Parrack (Hoyt Fortenberry)

Then: Parrack was another actor to make many television appearances around the start of True Blood. He could be seen in NCIS, Criminal Minds, and Supernatural.

Now: Parrack will be in the upcoming season of The Deuce and has many film projects in the works, including David Wexler's Last Supper.

Nelsan Ellis (Lafayette Reynolds)

Then: Before playing Lafayette, Ellis co-starred in the series, The Inside. In 2007, he was featured in episodes of Veronica Mars and Without a Trace. He could also be seen in the film The Express, which was released soon after True Blood began.

Now: Sadly, Nelsan Ellis passed away last July. His final projects included playing Shinwell Johnson on Elementary and Tyrik in True to the Game. Never forget: In the True Blood books, Lafayette died almost immediately, meaning Ellis took the character and made it his own with very little source material.

Alexander Skarsgård (Eric Northman)

Then: Okaaaaay, so Eric didn't actually come in until the fourth episode. However, no one wants to look at True Blood content sans Skarsgård. A month before True Blood premiered, he starred in the mini-series, Generation Kill. In 2009, he famously played the boyfriend in Lady Gaga's "Paparazzi" video.

Now: Last year, he starred in Big Little Lies, which won him a Golden Globe and an Emmy. He has at least six upcoming films in the works, including the Netflix thriller Hold the Dark. He'll also be featured in the upcoming mini-series, The Little Drummer Girl.
