Tell Us The Most Messed-Up Thing Parents Did In A Kids Movie

I'm still mad at The Parent Trap parents.

Parents in kids movies are generally presented as well-meaning, even when they make decisions that hinder our young protagonists.

Except in Matilda. Her parents were straight-up evil.

But sometimes, even the "good parents" in movies do SERIOUSLY messed-up stuff and make some VERY questionable decisions.

Like, leaving Kevin home alone once in Home Alone was bad enough. But what kind of parent does that TWICE?!?

Honestly unacceptable.

And I'm sorry, what parent would see Augustus Gloop (most likely) get killed in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, and then continue the tour of the factory?

We kind of already know the other parents suck, but still, they put their kids in serious danger. And Grandpa Joe?!?!? The worst of them all. 

The custody arrangement in The Parent Trap is SO messed up, and it's time we talk about it.

Those parents are terrible people.

And I don't care about the curse, exiling their daughter to the woods and lying about her identity for 16 years was a bad parenting decision in Sleeping Beauty. Also, why not just invite Maleficent??

The fairies were even worse as parents. They brought her back like an hour before she was safe, then LEFT HER ALONE, causing her to wander off and prick her finger and activate the curse — and then they put the entire kingdom to sleep to cover their tracks.
