In 2022, after feeling overwhelmed by this ongoing pandemic, we can at least feel grateful that Hollywood has continued to select some phenomenal books to adapt. From heart-pounding thrillers to uplifting romances to sorrowful period pieces, here's what we can expect (and what we've predicted) will release in 2022.

1. Death on the Nile, Agatha Christie

What it’s about: Hercule Poirot's glamorous river steamer vacation turns deadly when a honeymooning couple mysteriously dies — yet someone on board is withholding the truth. Read the book here!

2. The Sky is Everywhere, Jandy Nelson

What it’s about: The Sky is Everywhere follows a teenage girl named Lennie who is trying to cope with her sister's death when she forms an unexpected bond with Toby, her sister's boyfriend, and Joe, a new boy at school. Read the book here!

3. No Exit, Taylor Adams

What it’s about: Caught in a blizzard in the Colorado mountains on the way to see her sick mother, Darby witnesses a young girl locked in an animal crate inside of a van and decides to figure out who her abductor is. Read the book here!

4. Pachinko, Min Jin Lee

What it’s about: This multigenerational family saga, set in 20th century Japan and Korea, primarily focuses on a resilient woman named Sunja whose life trajectory changes after she meets a man named Hansu. Read the book here!

5. The Viscount Who Loved Me (Bridgerton, Season 2), Julia Quinn

What it’s about: While we followed Daphne and Simon in the first season of Bridgerton, the second season will focus on the eldest Bridgerton, Anthony. Set in Regency era London in 1813, we'll follow Anthony in his quest to find love — and, of course, indulge in ever-so-witty banter. Read the book here!

6. Mrs. Harris Goes To Paris, Paul Gallico

What it’s about: A Londoner and cheery house cleaner named Mrs. Harris happens upon the most beautiful dress she has ever seen in her life, deciding right then and there to save up to go to the House of Dior in Paris, where her life is turned upside down. Read the book here!

7. Bullet Train, Kotaro Isaka

8. Where The Crawdads Sing, Delia Owens

What it’s about: Set in a quiet town on the North Carolina coast, a young girl named Kya is forced to survive on her own. Known as "the marsh girl" with a love for nature, she's not accepted within her town, though she tries to fit in. We jump back and forth in time, watching Kya grow up in the past while learning about the murder of Chase Andrews in 1969's present, where locals suspect Kya's involvement. 11. Heartstopper, Alice Oseman

What it’s about: This young adult romance between a shy, introverted boy named Charlie and a wholesome rugby player named Nick is bound to warm your heart. 12. Conversations with Friends, Sally Rooney

What it’s about: Like Normal People, Conversations with Friends is also set in the green oasis of Ireland. The story follows Frances, who is pursuing a career in writing while attending university in Dublin, and her best friend Bobbi. 18. Daisy Jones and the Six, Taylor Jenkins Reid

What it’s about: Daisy Jones & the Six tells a story of the rise of a fictional iconic rock band in the 1970s and is formatted almost documentary-style with character dialogue at the forefront, as if you're watching an episode of VH1’s Behind the Music. It's sex, drugs, and rock 'n' roll with the kind of drama and tension between characters that is utterly addicting and beautifully complex.

19. Exciting Times, Naoise Dolan

What it’s about: Naoise Dolan's debut has been compared to Sally Rooney over and over again, and while both Irish writers pen books about relationships, Dolan explores a complex love triangle after Ava moves to Hong Kong and becomes entangled with a man named Julian, and soon after, meets a charming woman named Edith.

Release date: While we don't have a solid release date yet, we do know Bridgerton's Phoebe Dynevor was cast as the lead.

20. Shadow and Bone (Season 2), Leigh Bardugo

What it’s about: This fantasy series set in the Grishaverse will continue to follow cunning cartographer and sun-summoner Alina Starkov, Mal, and The Darkling, as well as some new friends such as the one and only Nikolai Lantsov.

Release date: In production, but we're hoping to see it by the end of the year.

21. The School for Good and Evil, Soman Chainani

What it’s about: Based on a children's novel by the same name, Sophie plans on joining the School for Good while Agatha is better fit for the School for Evil — then both discover their fortunes have been reversed. Read the book here!
