TV and Movies·Updated on Oct 15, 2023"Wednesday" On Netflix Is Getting A Second Season, So Here's Everything We Know So FarWednesday was right. The suspense IS killing me.by Evelina Zaragoza MedinaBuzzFeed StaffLinkFacebookPinterestTwitterMail Wednesday was the runaway TV hit of 2022, so much so that it became one of Netflix's most-viewed shows of all time — not to mention the 12 Emmy nominations it received. Tap to play GIF Tap to play GIF Netflix Netflix has very intelligently renewed Wednesday for a second season, so here are all the details we know so far: 1. Jenna Ortega will be back, of course. Courtesy Of Netflix 2. But she'll also be an executive producer for Season 2! Netflix / Courtesy Everett Collection Given how much of Wednesday's success is due to Jenna's performance — and her input on Wednesday's arc — this is hardly surprising. 3. Jenna has said that Season 2 will have more horror and gore than Season 1, which seems very appropriate for our Gen-Z scream queen. Netflix 4. She also confirmed that the show will be "ditching any romantic love interest for Wednesday" in the second season, which means we can say goodbye not-so-beloved love triangle of Season 1. Netflix / Courtesy Everett Collection Wednesday's true love is sarcasm; it never would've worked out with either boy anyway. 5. That said, everybody involved is open to the possibility of a Wednesday/Enid romance down the line. Courtesy of Netflix Jenna Ortega and Emma Myers (who plays Enid) are actively in favor, and the show's creators have said that they're "open to everything" regarding the pair. One thing's for sure, though: Their relationship will continue to be the center of the show, even if it remains platonic. 6. Now that the WGA strike has been resolved, Netflix is prioritizing getting the scripts written for Season 2. That said, no filming can happen until SAG-AFTRA gets their fair deal as well. Netflix / Courtesy Everett Collection Jenna said back in March that the writers' room for the second season was coming together and that prep was officially underway in April 2023, but that was before the WGA strike began on May 2. Now that the writers are able to reassemble to write new episodes, it's just a matter of waiting for the actors to get their deal so that production can start. 7. 8. Besides Wednesday and Enid, other characters we can expect to return are Tyler (Hunter Doohan) and Bianca (Joy Sunday). Courtesy of Netflix 9. Fans have called for the removal of Percy Hynes White, who plays Xavier, after allegations of sexual assault were made against the actor early this year. Netflix/Courtesy Everett Collection Hynes denied the accusations, but sources claim that the he has since been written out of the show. Neither Netflix nor Hynes have confirmed this, and it's possible that no decisions about casting have been made because of the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes delaying production. We'll update as more information is confirmed. 10. The other Addamses will also have a bigger role in Season 2 — this means more Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia, a blessing to us all. Netflix/Courtesy Everett Collection "We felt like we just touched the surface with those characters, and the actors are so amazing in those roles,” co-creator Miles Millar said to TVLine. “Catherine is, I think, an iconic Morticia. The relationship between Wednesday and Morticia is also essential to the show, and the idea that Wednesday is trying to forge her own path outside the family is important." *snap snap* 11. And we'll meet a new member of the family! We just don't know who yet. We'll get an update on Wednesday's stalker and those threatening messages she got in the last episode. Vlad Cioplea/Netflix Last we saw, Xavier gave Wednesday a brand new phone, and she immediately started receiving threatening messages on said device. Suspicious. 13. Hunter Doohan's confirmed return means that we'll learn what happened to Tyler/The Hyde after the last shot of Season 1. Courtesy of Netflix The final image of Season 1 was Tyler riding in the back of a police van, fully restrained, asleep, and under heavy guard. Then, he woke up and started transforming into his Hyde self again. 14. Gwendoline Christie even teased her character's possible return...even though she died. Netflix / Courtesy Everett Collection "We haven't seen her put in the ground, have we?" Gwendoline told Digital Spy. "I feel like Larissa Weems would not really be prepared to entertain or be dominated by anything as commonplace as death." I'd love for this to be true, but, ya know, Principal Weems did seem pretty dead. 15. Finally, we shouldn't expect the new season any time soon, and DEFINITELY not before 2024.
