Internship Working With Union Labor Fails To Pay Min Wag.
"Be at the heart of labor action in the city that just passed a $15 minimum wage!" cries the listing for an internship that pays less in one month than Seattle's minimum wage earners get in a week for the same hours. The position is a community organizing position with Unite Here, a union for food servers and hospitality workers, and is facilitated by the Justice Leadership Program. The nonprofit Justice Leadership Program says it is dedicated to social, environmental and economic justice. Except, apparently, when it comes to their interns. The $445 monthly stipend boils down to a little over $3 per hour, though the ad says that housing and health insurance are included.
