8 Swimsuits We Love That'll Make You Wish It Were Summer Already

Swimwear that'll put you in a summer state of mind — from high-waisted bathing suits to retro one-pieces to plus-size-only styles.

We hope you love the products we recommend! Just so you know, BuzzFeed may collect a share of sales from the links on this page. Oh, and FYI — prices are accurate and items in stock as of time of publication

1. A retro, high-waisted two-piece with fun stripes that makes pretty much everyone look like a pinup model.

I used to be pretty skeptical about buying swimsuits on Amazon, especially because the prices are so much lower than the average store. Buying a two-piece usually means buying a top and bottom separately and the price can really add up. I've seen some bathing suits go up to $200 — and frankly, I don't want to spend that much for something I'm only going to wear a couple times a year. Since it was so cute and the reviews were good, I decided to take the chance on this one. After buying this swimsuit, I'm a total Amazon believer. It's well-made with quality materials, and best of all, it looks amazing. It's by far my favorite bathing suit ever. It has a structured top and a flattering bottom that comes up to just above my belly button. There are also these cutouts on the sides, which could potentially give you weird tan lines, but that's not an issue for me because I never tan. 😎 —Bek O'ConnellGet it from Amazon for $13.99 (available in sizes S, L, or XL).

2. A ruched one-piece with vintage flair that still has a timeless vibe — which is perfect, because it just might last you years to come.

Things I am not: a Spring Break Person, a Pool Person, a Beach Person, or a Bikini Person. This meant I was a Person With a Bathing Suit Problem for several years. The problem was twofold. First, I never wanted to buy a swimsuit in March, when they first start appearing in stores because, well, it's March...but by the actual summer, everything is super picked over. And second, I didn't want to spend a lot of money on an item of clothing I wouldn't get very much use out of. So basically, every June I found myself at Target, looking for a cute and trendy one-piece swimsuit that cost around $30...and I couldn't figure out why this magical swimsuit was eluding me.Finally, a couple years ago, I accepted that I probably needed to suck it up and spend a little more to get the swimsuit I'd been looking for. The one that convinced me? The ModCloth Bathing Beauty, which comes in several colors (and prints), and a range of sizes. I'm a sucker for a retro-style one-piece, but what really sold me were the amazing reviews and the photos that reviewers had uploaded of themselves wearing the suit. Seriously, every woman looked fly AF in it. I finally look the plunge (following the site's advice to size up because it runs small) and dropped the $90 on it, and as soon as I put it on, I knew it was worth the money. It's super comfortable (god, one-piece bathing suits are so underrated!), and I just really love how it looks on me. It was more money than I wanted to spend, but I've had it for almost four years and I'm no longer buying cheap swimsuits I hate every summer, so the cost balanced out. I keep meaning to buy a second one in black or navy because I love it so much. —Rachel W. MillerGet it from Modcloth for $89 (available in sizes 4–34 and in red, emerald, black, and royal blue velvet).

3. This charming floral bikini with an easily adjustable top that'll instantly transport you to the 1950s for under $25.

Emmy Favilla / BuzzFeed

I'm not a "beach person" by any stretch of the definition, and I jump into a pool maaaybe three times during a good summer. But I simply can't resist a cute high-waisted swimsuit, so when I came across this one in a BuzzFeed post by one of my colleagues about two years ago, I figured several thousand people couldn't be wrong! (Seriously, it has over 3,000 reviews.) With its price tag under $25, I was a little skeptical, especially because I've never ordered any apparel, much less a bikini, from a brand I'd never heard of on Amazon, but as soon as it arrived, I knew I'd found my new go-to swimsuit.

I've typically had to order a size down for the top and a size up for the bottom, so my hopes for a swimsuit that didn't allow you to purchase each piece separately were not particularly high, but I was pleasantly surprised to find that that both the top and bottom fit me perfectly. The halter top ties both behind your neck and behind your back, so it's easy to adjust it to your preferred fit. It's adorably retro not just thanks to its high-waisted cut but also the floral pattern I went with — but if a black-and-orange motif isn't your scene, don't fret, because it's available in 17 other equally charming designs (mostly floral, but also cherry and pineapple). The high-waisted bottom has yet to lose its elasticity, and I love the ruching details. For this price, you'd be hard-pressed to find a better quality (and cuter!) swimsuit anywhere. —Emmy Favilla

Get it from Amazon for $22.99 (available in sizes S–4XL and in 18 patterns).

4. A swimsuit designed specifically for plus-sized bodies, to ensure a fit that'll have you looking and feeling fierce AF.

These swimsuit pieces have both been discontinued — RIP — but I got them from Torrid and Swimsuits 4 All. Those brands (and this swimsuit!) are my faves because they're designed to fit plus-size bodies, which is different than just sizing up a straight-size garment. I feel ~fierce~ and comfortable when I wear this, and I appreciate that both brands offer a range of styles (one-piece! two-piece! separates! tankinis!) so that anywhere you are on your journey with your body and your desire to show skin, you can find a suit that fits you, looks good, and is comfortable for you. —Kaye ToalGet a similar top from Torrid for $14.99+ (available in sizes M/Ll–6X) and similar bottoms from Swimsuits for all for $14+ (available in sizes 4–34).

5. This gorgeous printed swimsuit that's a dream for anyone who loves a one-piece but still wants to show a lil' skin.

Essence Gant / BuzzFeed, ashantiswimwear.com

I'm OBSESSED with my YAA swimsuit by Ashanti Swimwear. It's low-cut on the sides for a sexy side-boob peek, and it's high-cut at the legs. It's a one-piece but still shows off a good bit of skin, and the print makes me feel regal AF! —Essence Gant

6. An on-trend swimsuit for a tropical ~lewk~ that costs less than all the fancy frozen drinks you'll be enjoying poolside.

While scouring the pages of Amazon I came across this leafy-print one-piece and just fell in love. I was obsessed with everything about it: the cut, the print, the style. I went through the reviews, looked at customer pictures, and decided to trust the people of the internet and purchase it. I threw it in our shopping cart and my fiancé ordered it with our monthly supply of dog food and toilet paper. Obviously, I expected only the ~finest~ of swimsuit apparel to arrive, but the price was right and we were going on vacation so I needed something to wear while I did nothing but drink tropical cocktails.Much to my surprise, though, this swimsuit was AMAZING. Like, better than most of the suits I’ve purchased from high-end boutiques and department stores. Plus, it was a fraction of a fraction of the price. It was so comfortable, fit perfectly, and kept my ladies (boobs) and babies (tummy) in check. I’m pretty conservative when it comes to showing cleavage in anything, but especially swimsuits. (Because my ladies are so big, I don’t have to do much to have cleavage, so when a suit emphasizes that...it’s just too much.) This one-piece, though, kept them secure and comfy while not putting them out on total display.I just love it! I got so many compliments, and could I just threw some shorts over it when we walked into town to pig out on lunch. I’m just so obsessed with it! —Elena GarciaGet it from Amazon for $9.99+ (available in sizes S–2XL, in nine colors).

7. This bikini that stays put and looks fab no matter how active you decide to get at the beach.

This bikini might be one of the best I've ever owned. Most other ones I've bought look really good when you're lying on a towel on the beach — but then when it comes to running around or swimming, the bottoms ride up and the top comes down. This one, however is designed to stay on no matter what you're doing! And I feel really comfortable walking around in it. I've used it while swimming laps, playing soccer on the beach, and under a wetsuit while surfing without any issues at all. Plus, it comes in a variety of prints and colors, which makes me tempted to buy some more — especially given how inexpebsive this bikini is. —Jemima SkelleyGet it from Bonds for $34.99 AUD (available in sizes XS–XL, in black, red, and two floral prints).

8. A playful high-waisted swimsuit with skirt-like detailing that's so damn fun it'll even inspire non-beach people to take a dip in the water.

As I mentioned in #3, I'm a sucker for a retro swimsuit. I adore a high waist, and many moons before high-waisted bikinis became a full-on swimwear trend, I scoured every crevice of the internet for the perfect one. I stumbled on this suit about eight years ago, which sadly seems to no longer be carried, on a site called Unique Vintage — but the good news is that they still carry an extensive line of impossibly cute retro-style swimsuits! And you can order the tops and bottoms separately, which is a godsend for anyone like myself who often needs to order a different size for each. The site is chockfull of retro styles, from one-pieces to two-pieces to skirted bottoms to swim dresses to off-the-shoulder styles, in sizes XS–4XL. You can also shop by era (1940s–1980s), if you're looking for a specific aesthetic. Basically, this site is a vintage lover's dream where you're pretty much guaranteed to find your perfect swimsuit! —Emmy FavillaGet a similar style from Unique Vintage starting at $7 per piece (available in sizes XS–4XL).
