    1. A set of dishwasher cleaning tablets you can pop into a cycle with your dirty dishes to wipe out all the extra grime and that funky smell the last apartment tenant left you to deal with.

Promising review: "Saved me from buying a new dishwasher!I have to admit that I was skeptical that this product was actually going to do anything. I’ve noticed my dishwasher wasn’t cleaning dishes very well lately, and I did everything I could to get it working properly again, but was ready to finally give up and buy a new dishwasher. I bought these tablets thinking they were designed to eliminate odors, but I was willing to give them a shot before buying a whole new dishwasher. I put one in the bottom of the dishwasher last night per the instructions and woke up to completely clean dishes for the first time in weeks. They look perfect. I don’t know why these tablets work but they absolutely did and I am a happy customer!" —B. Turner

    Get a six-pack from Amazon for $5.99.

    2. A power scrubber brush you can attach to a DRILL (!!) that basically does all of the hard grime-busting for you, so the only sore arms you'll have are from that Instagram Live workout your roommate roped you into, and not from daring to clean the shower.

one of the brushes attached to a drill next to a shower pane with half still fogged up and the other super clear

Promising review: "I've been eyeing these for a few months and finally caved.. Man do I regret not picking them up as soon as I saw them! They work GREAT! We rent an apartment that has a 30+ year old shower/tub. I've used everything from abrasive powders, gels that sit to most recently the bathroom magic erasers and nothing really got the grime out. These WORK and they work fast. Ten minutes with my handy drill and the shower has never been cleaner. I love that I don't have to throw money out on cleaning products anymore and that I can be a little more environmentally friendly with no waste and no chemical cleaners! Just a little dish soap, baking soda and a spin of the brush. If you're on the fence, just buy them!" —Becky Adie

Get it from Amazon for $14.95 (available in six colors).

    3. A fume-free oven cleaner that's gentle enough that you don't need protective gloves to use it, but tough enough that it'll erase the evidence of all your baking misadventures and that time you fell asleep while cooking pizza rolls.

Promising review: "Mine just came in the mail today and I used it right away — it works fantastically! My oven is an electric, probably slightly on the older side, and has been badly stained since before I moved into my current unit. I have tried everything I could think of to get it clean prior to finding this product and nothing worked. But after doing the two hour treatment it is almost all gone but for a few small specs here and there. I have just sprayed it again to see if those will come off too without an overnight treatment (just out of curiosity, it's perfectly clean as it is). I would recommend this product to anyone that wants an oven cleaner that works and is easy to use." —Lis Zupp

Get it from Amazon for $17.38.

    4. A set of Bottle Bright tablets so you can tackle all those caked-on stains in your bottles, travel mugs, and even coffee makers without scrubbing them into eternity every time you want to take them on a picnic or a hike.

a before image of the inside of a stained mug, a during image of it with soapy water, and an after image with it clean

Promising review: "I seriously can't believe how well these little tablets work. I had the most disgusting Hydro Flask coffee mug; I tried everything — bottle brush, different kinds of soap, vinegar, EVERYTHING — and there was still a seemingly impenetrable layer of black sludge inside. It grossed me out so much that I bought ANOTHER Hydro Flask to replace it. Eventually they both got black inside, so I tried these little magic tablets. I let a tablet sit in each of my mugs for an hour or two, and the black sludge rinsed out COMPLETELY, without even scrubbing. They look brand-new. What a magical product. No weird smell or taste afterward, either. I liked it so much that I used it on another Hydro Flask I use primarily to hold my Bloody Mary mix in the fridge. I couldn't put anything else in it because it would always taste like spicy tomato juice. Bottle Bright to the rescue! No residual smell or taste anymore. AMAZING, AMAZING, AMAZING." —Amazon Customer

    5. A bottle of wood polish that will make your all your scuffed-up cabinets and hardwood floors look brand spanking new, even if your dog had a free for all scratching at them in the name of digging to nowhere.

A damaged wood cabinet in a before pic, and an after pic without any scratches or wear and tear

Promising review: "AMAZING product!!!!! My daughter ate a hot bowl of soup on my wooden table and left numerous white ring marks. I tried everything to get them off and failed every time. As soon as I put the product on, it was practically brand-new again. Highly recommend this product!" —Diana V

Get a bottle from Amazon for $9.68 (available in nine finishes).

    6. *Or* a set of 13 wood stain markers and crayons in different finishes — truly an investment if your apartment has wooden cabinets or furniture that need touch-ups, but don't all quite match. Now you're bound to have at least one color from this set that can do the trick on each of them., Amazon

Promising review: "Used this on our dining room chairs, laminate flooring and our oak end table. The assortment of colors is the biggest plus for this product. Where needed to help blend in each color I used WD40 on a soft cloth and a very fine steel wool. The color I selected for the wood laminate matched perfectly. The dining chairs and end table needed some blending due to the wood grain. This kit is the best I have ever used. I highly recommend it." —Sam

Get a set of 13 from Amazon for $9.99.

    7. A squishy universal dust cleaner that will get into all your space's nooks and crannies, like keyboards and AC units and the vents in the back of your printer. Take that, dust (... and Cheez-It crumbs, if we're all being honest with ourselves).

Promising review: "I was skeptical at first. Was afraid my keyboard would be all gummed up with yellow slime! The opposite, it cleaned it as good as new. Got all those dog hairs between the keys! No smell lingering on keyboard or my hands. No sign I even used it except a clean keyboard. Kind of fun to play with. Squeeze it between your fingers! LOL. My next task for it will be those dust return air vents on our heating system and use it on my dusty window blinds. This stuff works and I highly recommend!" —Billy

Get it from Amazon for $5.99.

    8. A set of color-coded Scrub Daddy sponges designed to tackle tough stains all over your space without ever scratching surfaces. Plus, the colors mean you and your roomies will always know where you used it last — you can assign one to dishes, the other to the bathroom, and a third for whatever the heck your dog got into this week.

Bonus: these sponges basically have two "modes." In cold water they get super firm for tough scrubbing, and in warm water they go soft for cleaning that doesn't require as much heavy lifting. They also have a super fast drying time, which helps keep them odor-resistant for a full eight weeks. And the little holes in the eyes and smile make it easier to clean things with ridges and angles, like spoons and chopsticks.

Promising review: "I used to 'save' these little gems for 'special projects' (what projects, I don't know, because I ended up not ever using them!). Then one day I decided 'what the heck, just use one in the sink for dishes, you can always buy more.' Lo and behold, I LOVE them! They remove food off of dishes more easily than a sponge and I just throw them in the top rack of the dishwasher and they come out spotless! They never smell and always rinse out nicely in between washings. These little gems even take off hard water build up from my shower doors! (I also use regular cleaners with them to do the trick.). I love these so much I bought a bunch and used them as stocking stuffers last Xmas! Everyone loves them!" —DivaGranny

Get a set of three from Amazon for $9.99.

    9. Plus a faucet caddy, because it's extremely time to stop cringing at the weird soppy marks your sponge makes on the edge of the sink and fishing your brush out from under a mountain of dishes.

A whtie holder for a sponge and scrubber that hangs off the faucet of the sink

Promising review: "We had been keeping our sponge and dish soap in a countertop caddy that just wasn’t working with our new sink configuration. I’d had bad experiences with the suction-cup style holders in the past, but this holder is different. Not only is it a snap (literally!) to install around the base of the faucet, I realized that it is magnetic on the bottom to help secure it to any stainless steel sink and keep it from sliding around. It fits a (pretty large) sponge and a dish scraper. It also has a little compartment for a small scrub brush. Best of all, it allows the sponge to dry properly and doesn’t seem to hold water to lead to any gross buildup. I completely recommend this product!" —Colette Dean

Get it from Amazon for $10.30.

    10. A set of fast-acting Keurig cleaner pods you can put through a cycle on the machine to get rid of all the crusted on grinds and residue that are *definitely* affecting the taste of your coffee, even if you haven't noticed over time.

Reviewer image of the cleaning K-cup in a Keurig machine

Promising review: "Well, I had a coworker buy these and bring them to work. I don’t drink coffee but my husband loves, loves his K-Cup!! He cleans it and I didn’t know you could use this to clean it out. Surprised him and he loves it and they work great!!! He said, 'It tastes better?' Yes, cleaning will do this in most items!!! Great job!! Thank you!!" —Barbara McClure

Get a set of six from Amazon for $9.95.

    11. A handy fridge deodorizer to finally get rid of that slightly ~off~ smell your fridge has had since the day you inherited it, no matter how many times you went to clown town cleaning it out.

A white deodorizer on a fridge shelf

This deodorizer lasts up to six months, and also helps keep produce fresher for longer. The company claims it's six times more effective than baking soda — a ton of reviewers mentioned they'd tried the baking soda method and failed, but that this worked like a charm!

Promising review: "I've been trying to get this old smell out of my fridge for years. I'd tried everything, cleaning the whole fridge with bleach, the dish of vanilla, baking soda, etc. I put these in my fridge and freezer and poof! The smell was gone! Highly recommend! 10/10 good job!" —adam baker

Get a set of two from Amazon for $16.95.

    12. A broom for pet and human hair that can work on any type of floor, but is specifically designed to pull it up from the carpet deeper than even a lot of vacuums can reach, so you can go on an alarming but satisfying mission to the depths of your rugs. TBH, a must-have if you live with pets or roomies who shed (ding ding ding, *me*).

    Emma Lord/BuzzFeed

An embarrassing confession: my hair gets so ingrained in the carpet that a vacuum truly does nothing for it. In fact, to make matters worse, weird particles get stuck in the hair on the floor, which is stuck to the carpet, so I often was just unrooting clumps of hair from the floor with my hands (sorry for the visual). I bought this broom and it immediately started pulling it up GOBS of hair. My carpet like, genuinely changed color (turns out the pink was supposed to be much pinker, whoops). Anyway, do with that semi-horrifying information what you will.

Promising review: "My daughter and I have naturally curly multiracial hair. My hair sheds. A lot. We have carpet in our home everywhere, including in front of my bathroom vanity (why builders, why?). Needless to say, vacuuming never goes well in this home. My husband is forever having to take the vacuum apart to get all the hair out from the brush. Let me tell you, this thing is amazing for getting my curly hair out of the carpet. I love that it is telescoping as well. This is very helpful for sweeping the stairs. Next year, I want to get rid of the carpet in our home and get tile or laminate or something. I like that I'll still be able to use this broom to clean the hard floor as well." —A Perez

Get it from Amazon for $12.99.

    13. Plus a drain snake you can funnel into your shower drain that honestly works a little *too* well at unclogging hair, pulling it up in one fast (and semi-horrifying) go.

The snake is super thin, long, and flexible, so it can literally ~snake~ its way into just about any household drain. The plastic barbs on the side have enough give that they won't hurt your pipes, but are strong enough to unclump and pull up hair (as well as other gross miscellaneous things that might be living there with it). It's also significantly less toxic than pouring chemicals down the drain which, TBH, doesn't even work half the time.

Promising review: "I’m so excited to finally have a bathroom sink that drains!! Since moving into my apartment, my bathroom sink and bathtub took forever to drain. I bought multiple de-clogging solutions but they didn’t assist or help much with the problem. When my bathtub was taking over an hour to drain I decided it was time to try these out! After receiving it I went to work, within minutes it pulled out so much hair in both drains. It’s disturbing/disgusting yet weirdly satisfying because now my sinks drain!!" —DebSD

Get a set of three from Amazon for $9.99.

    14. A Scotchguard water fabric shield that'll reeeeeally come in handy if you're a person who loves themselves some in-couch dining — a single can of this can repel water-based spills to help prevent staining and significantly lengthen the life of your furniture.

A reviewer pouring water on a couch, showing that it just slides down

Psst — people also use this to "rainproof" their shoes and clothes!

Promising review: "I got this for my pillows. Having a four and seven year old who are constantly making messes in the living room, I was a bit fed up with replacing my pillows due to stains. The spraying was easy and quick, then I left them outside to air out. Today I noticed a big splatter of dried up ketchup on the pillow. I took a wet paper towel and rubbed off the stain. It came off completely! Nothing seeped through the fabric. I just wish I used this sooner!" —Lidia

Get it from Amazon for $9.99.

    15. An internet-beloved pet urine stain-removing spray that instantly tackles both old and new stains *plus* the funky smell, so you can enjoy the new quality time you might be getting with your pet without sacrificing your carpet and/or your nostrils.

A person spraying the bottle on a carpet

Promising review: "I have eight rescue cats. Keeping smells gone can be a nightmare. I am super strict about no odors and I have bought and tried everything on the market for urine but nothing worked for more than a day then the smell was back. We have ceramic tile floors and they are porous enough to hold odors. Closets, under desks, on stuffed animals, I was at my wit's end trying to stop marking. We tried calming collars, diffusers, locking them out of rooms, nothing was helping. This miracle in a bottle saved my sanity. It has a slightly minty scent which I find pleasant and it WORKS!! I sprayed a crochet toy I thought was a loss and you cannot smell the cat pee anymore. I happily sprayed around my dad's room and bathroom, even his gross jugs and the smell is no longer there!!! I am going to stock up on this stuff for the rest of my life!!" —Kindle Customer

Get it from Amazon for $19.97.

    16. A TubShroom, a little gizmo you can stick in your shower drain to catch your hair before it clogs up your pipes and becomes a living nightmare for everyone in the apartment. The hair coils around it to make it even easier to remove, making it both handy *and* a lil' gross!

reviewer image of hair caught in the white tube-shaped TubShroom

Promising review: "I have tried everything I could think of to cut back on hair clogs. I definitely became a pro at taking apart my drain to clean it which is a disgusting process. Between my long hair and having two dogs who shed in the bed when we aren't around there is a lot of hair of different lengths. This simple creation catches it all and is easy to get the hair off. The drain stopper still works for baths and the soft silicone is more gentle if a kid rubs it then the original screw on drain cover. Fantastic." —Amazon Customer

Get it from Amazon for $12.99 (available in six colors).

    17. A foaming garbage disposal cleaner you can plop into your sink, run a little water on, and let its blue magic fizz its way up to the top while clearing out all the gunk and gross smells from your TikTok-sponsored culinary adventures in one go.

Promising review: "This stuff really cleans my sink and disposal of the foul odor that sometimes develops. I've tried everything to get rid of the smell from the garbage disposal: Vinegar, bleach, ice, various other products, baking soda, baking soda with vinegar, boiling water ... nothing seemed to get rid of the smell for long, but this stuff does. I like it so much that I ordered it online because I couldn't find it again at the grocery store." —Carol L. Hill

    Get a four-pack from Amazon for $5.80.

    18. A carpet and upholstery cleaner to quickly rub all those old mystery stains out of your couches, chairs, and rugs you bought secondhand so you can stop strategically putting blanket throws over them every time you take a FaceTime from your mom.

Promising review: "This product is my saving grace. I have two young kids, a dog, and an affinity for light gray couches and rugs. Those things do not work well together in the normal world, but these cans of Woolite Upholstery Cleaner have saved my life (and my couches, and my rugs, and my carpets). One of my kids even got Behr PAINT from our drying fireplace on the couch, and the Woolite cleaner took that off too! It’s absolutely incredible. Food, marker, pens, snot, poop, puke... you name it; Woolite Upholstery Cleaner removes the stain and the smell. I will forever be indebted. LOVE Y'ALL." —Amazon Customer

    19. A set of reusable wool dryer balls that'll pick up both your hair and pet's hair in the wash, *plus* consistently lessen the drying time of your clothes, soften fabric, and help prevent wrinkles. And TBH, any less time spent in the laundromat is a win.

A model putting a gray wool ball into the dryer

Promising review: "These work really well to cut drying time in half. I was so pleased with the shortened drying time that I wanted a second set for our second dryer. These are a great price on Amazon and also surprisingly heftier than the name brand ones I'd spent 30% more on. They are great at picking up stray animal and human hair (that remain adhered to the clothing during the wash cycle) in the clothes dryer. I have not found that they reduce static significantly, but I pop in a dryer sheet and that takes care of that. Great product!" —K Carlson

Get a set of six from Amazon for $8.99.

Promising review: "I used it for the first time on my new stainless-steel sink last night — which was already showing water stains. Wow did this stuff work like a charm. It really shined my sink up and did not leave a white milky residue like some cleaners do. I think I might be addicted to this stuff daily, whether my sink really needs it or not." —Alana

I'll never use another grout cleaner." —Tyler

the person-shaped cleaner with vents at the top of its head next to a clean microwave

Promising review: "This product is so amazing, I'm going to get one for all of my children. I am a teacher, and I let my students use my microwave. Usually it takes me half an hour of scrubbing after 31 students have made popcorn, and heated up lunches. This time I used the product, and I literally spent less than one minute just wiping down the microwave!!! I will now keep one in my classroom, and one at my home. A miracle product that actually does what it says, remarkable!!!" —Desiree Barlow

    Amazon / Via

Plus, it's designed to work on everything from carpets to shag rugs to hardwood floors, so you can use it in every room.

Promising review: "I can’t imagine rating this vacuum at less than 5 stars, especially considering the price point. Not sure why it is so affordable, but I’m glad it is. At first glance it does not look particularly fancy or high tech, but this thing absolutely works. The suction is impressive, the unit is lightweight and stores the attachments compactly, and the settings are easy to use. I honestly can’t believe how much it picked up from my carpets. It was also effective for the pet hair on my couches. Noise output is average, cord length seems reasonable — perhaps the hose could be longer for cleaning surfaces overhead, but not a huge concern for me. Overall I could not be more pleased with a product that actually does its job." — goodbatch

Get it from Amazon for $69.99.

    26. Or a small handheld cordless vacuum to easily get into hard-to-reach places like the corners of your bathroom or under your cabinets without whipping out the full vac and wrangling the cord — a godsend if you, say, spill an entire bag of Flamin' Hot Cheetos in the middle of the night and don't want to wake up every tenant in the building cleaning it up.

Model using the handheld vacuum on kitchen crumbs

Promising review: "I love this vacuum! I was looking for something to keep upstairs to get rid of my long hairs that shed all over the bathroom. I have now bought a second one to keep on our main floor as well. This thing comes in handy for cleaning up the bathroom, baseboards, stairs, kitchen, etc. Its compact size makes it easy to stash under the sink or out of the way. Holds a charge long enough to vacuum all three bathrooms and the kitchen without dying. The suction is great, might not be the strongest on the market but I have no complaints so far. The canister is easy to clean, just open it and dump the trash into the trash can. The filter is a little trickier, after each use I grab a cloth and rub it over the filter to dislodge dust/particles. You can also use your hands to dislodge the dust. Looks like the filter could be potentially washed with soap and water and left out to dry." —CBM

Promising review: "I have been using Goo Gone since it was first introduced and every year I find new uses for it. I keep a large bottle in the garage for cleaning tools and removing adhesives, and nothing works better.
