    1. A small but mighty knife sharpener for transforming your lackluster cutters into safer, sharper instruments. Nope, you don't need a new knife set. You need this.

I'm one of those people who uses the kitchen knives my former roommates left behind. (Cue the gasps.) And I love this! I read the reviews, fell for it, and put it in several stories. Then I spent as much money as I've paid for a fancy coffee drink on it. It's called investing, folks. It whipped my leftover knives into shape by running it through the notches a few times, which is incredibly easy to do and way less intimidating than those sharpening rods you see in cartoons. ALSO cutting with a dull knife is extremely dangerous! Stay safe out there, folks.

Get it from Amazon for $5.99+ (available in three colors).

    2. A face mask–mixing kit because you and I both know it'll be so much easier to use than whipping up your holy grail Aztec Secret mask and ACV in a cereal bowl and applying it with your fingers.

Includes a bowl, mixing tool, and two silicone spatulas for applying the mask to your lovely face.

Get them from Amazon for $6.99.

    3. A pumice stick for your toilet that'll finally erase those hard-water stains on the bowl that had you saving up for a new porcelain throne., Amazon

FYI, there are MUCH grosser customer photos if you click through!

Promising review: "So thankful for this Christmas gift. The stains in my toilet bowl have been such an eyesore, and I didn’t know how to get rid of them. Here’s my answer!" —April FJ

Get it from Amazon for $7.99.

    4. And a two-sided pumice stone made to tackle calluses on your feet from hitting the mean city streets and being too busy to actually pay for a pedicure. (Yes, if you go and get a pedicure, you might spot the technician using one of these on your old dogs!)

I have this and its two sides (medium and coarse) WORK. It's lasted a longggggg time. Most of the time I go in on my feet with the coarse side first, and then finish off with the medium. But don't do this dry! Make sure you've done this after you've been in the shower or the bath a bit to help soften your skin. With this, a pedicure rasp, and a body scrub, you can do some major foot work on the reg and treat pro pedicures like, well, a treat!

Promising review: "I’ve always had pretty bad calluses and dry feet because I’ve always worked as a merchandiser. This has been the best purchase for my feet. It has two different textures on each side. I used the rough side first then the other side to smooth out and my feet have been smooth for at least a week without me having to redo them." —Amber

Get it from Amazon for $2.64.

    5. Grocery bag carriers to help cut out a few trips from the car to the house after a shopping run. Keeping your dog and kids corralled while you do this chore is about to be so much easier.

Promising review: "My husband and I live on the second story of an apartment with only stairs and we have to park farther away as we live in Chicago. This makes life sooo much easier. Yes the bags are still ridiculously heavy if you pack them on there, but being able to hold all the bags at once prevents my husband or I from cutting off the circulation in our arms from the plastic bags. The handle does hurt your hand when there is a lot of weight, but you can tape it up or put on gloves." —Alyssa R.

Get two from Amazon for $9.99.

    6. A stormproof match kit that'll earn its keep while camping or in an emergency kit. (Though hopefully you'll never have to put them to the test under duress.)

Includes the waterproof case, 25 stormproof matches, and 3 strikers.

Promising review: "An astonishing match. A must-have for emergencies. These things will not blow out. The reaction is so strong you can actually strike, and place under a stream of water, remove and the match will light." —Rick

Get them from Amazon for $9.25.

    7. Slow-cooker liners – they might just lure you into using your fave lazy-day kitchen appliance even more often — so now you're up to 6x a week. (Ain't no shame in that game.)

Years ago I picked up a box of these liners and have been using them since. They make cleanup SO EASY that I feel a little guilty about it. And I don’t have a dishwasher, so that’s a pretty big deal. I've used them to make chili, barbecue, and even some delicious bread (all without affecting the taste of my food).

These'll be so much easier to hold than the flimsy coin lookalikes that come in most sewing kits.

Promising review: "The flower portion made it easy to hold and the wire is better-secured than any of the little silver cheap ones that you pay for in stores and sometimes are not sturdy enough to thread even one needle without breaking! These are inexpensive for the number you get, easier to locate in your sewing box or on your work table because of the bright colors of the flowers, and they are easier to handle than the flimsy silver threaders. I highly recommended them and have given several away to family members who sew." —Iamshelmore

Promising review: "I love these shower curtain hooks. I always dreaded having to change out my curtains because it took forever to hang them up. These make it so much easier and faster. I wish I'd gotten them sooner. There are little balls at the top, which make them glide easily along the rod when you open and close the curtain. There are also two hooks in each, one for the inside liner and one for the outside curtain." —Jheneya

I've used this consistently off and on through the years when I've wanted to keep my primer budget under $10.

Promising review: "Sadly, I have always had a rather red complexion and just recently looked into 'correcting colors,' which NYX has lots of products for, including this one. Obviously, I chose green to cancel out the red and to my surprise, it worked! After a minute or two of applying and drying my face actually appeared clearer whiter. Even totally dry, they're pretty impressive about taking all of my makeup (including waterproof eyeliner and mascara) in a couple swipes. 24. Elastic shoe laces so going through airport security — or kicking off your sneakers as soon as you get home — will be dramatically quicker.

Promising review: "I wear black walking shoes to my office every day. I wanted to make them more comfortable and easier to put on. I tried another brand from a major retailer. They were 'one size' and really constricted my feet. Then I ordered these really simple laces. They are a very low-tech solution — just shoe strings made out of elastic. You can adjust the tension, just like shoe strings. You can tie a bow, so that you appear to have normal shoe strings. Now my shoes slip on and off easier then loafers. I've used them for three months. These are nothing fancy, but they do the job well. My sensitive feet are happy." —A. Aaron

I spent the day putting them on all of my cabinets and drawers, and am now able to enjoy a quieter house." —B
