Hugh's hair was blown like they were making a shampoo commercial. The CGI claws looked like aluminium foil. An endurance test for Hugh's commitment to playing Wolverine. Worst X-Men movie ever made...

...which still doesn't excuse the streaking.

8. X-Men: The Last Stand

You can see the light slowly fade from Hugh's eyes throughout this movie. Third time was not lucky for the X-Men. Wolverine got lost in the wash of too many characters and Hugh was like, whatevs.

It's more fun watching Hugh eat pizza like Wolverine than viewing any scene from this movie. Wolverine travels back in time to save the X-Men franchise from itself. It's 131 minutes of Wolverine turning the series off and on again like a busted computer.

6. X-Men: Apocalypse

20th Century Fox.

A slice and dice special, with Hugh going mental and carving up a small army. It's the best part of a craptacular X-Men movie.

5. X-Men: First Class

CONTROVERSIAL. It's technically a cameo because Hugh only appears for 20 seconds but it sums up everything great about Wolverine.

4. The Wolverine

Hugh uses his body as a human shield against the blast of a nuclear bomb, and later, propels himself forward like a human bullet while on top of a train in Japan. ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED?!?

3. X-Men

The breakout performance that started it all *wipes tear*. Hugh got the role after his buddy Russell Crowe passed on the opportunity. From the minute Hugh popped his claws as Wolverine we knew it was meant to be.

2. X-Men 2

Hugh unleashes Wolverine's fury in spectacular style, and ensures he is the only person qualified to play the role. Every scene with Wolverine is dynamite, especially the attack on X-Mansion, where he goes into a berserker rage.

Plus there's a standoff with a cat!

Hugh saves the best for last with a soulful performance as the world weary Wolverine. Saying goodbye is tough, but it's the perfect farewell.

Can we get a statue of this bloody legend already?
