What's Going On Around The World Today?

Republicans and Democrats are voting today in Indiana’s U.S. presidential primaries. A judge in Brazil has ordered WhatsApp blocked for 72 hours over the messaging service’s recently encrypted data. And Leicester City won England’s Premier League championship for the first time in the soccer club’s 132-year history.

    HERE ARE THE TOP STORIES

U.S. presidential election: It could be Ted Cruz’s last big chance to end Donald Trump’s winning streak.

Republicans and Democrats are voting today in Indiana. BuzzFeed News will keep you updated.

    • (Rep) This could be Ted Cruz's last chance to deny Donald Trump the 1,237 delegates — the people who will vote for the nominee at this summer's party conventions — Trump needs to secure the Republican nomination.

    • (Dem) Hillary Clinton has a lead over Bernie Sanders in “superdelegates” — delegates who can vote for whoever they want at their party’s convention. Her overall delegate lead seems insurmountable.

    A little extra U.S. politics.

U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch has an agenda: from police accountability to the national re-examination of criminal justice priorities to LGBT anti-discrimination efforts to Black Lives Matter protests. When it comes to the Department of Justice, she told BuzzFeed News, “the position — on a whole host of issues — should always be toward inclusion and equality.”

    WE’RE KEEPING AN EYE ON

A Somali asylum-seeker is in critical condition after setting herself on fire at Australia’s immigration detention center on the island of Nauru.

She’s the second person to self-immolate there in a week, BuzzFeed Australia’s Rob Stott reports. Last week a 23-year-old Iranian man died after setting himself on fire at the center, where he had been detained for three years.

    And a little extra.

The Australian government sends asylum-seekers who come to the country by boat to detention centers on the Republic of Nauru and Manus Island, Papua New Guinea (both islands are located in the Pacific Ocean), to process refugee claims, BuzzFeed Australia’s Mark Di Stefano reports.

Papua New Guinea’s Supreme Court ruled last week that Australia’s detention of asylum-seekers on Manus Island is illegal because it violates basic human rights. The ruling requires the Australian government to close the Manus Island center, which holds 800 asylum-seekers, Di Stefano writes.

    DID YOU HEAR ABOUT THIS?

A tech boom is coming for Utah, but not everyone’s happy about it.

Utah — once a home home for religious pioneers (roughly 60% of the state’s population is Mormon) — is changing fast. The tech industry in the state is exploding, with huge venture capital deals, money flowing in from out of state, and more startups than ever before, BuzzFeed News’ Caroline O’Donovan writes.

But in chasing after California’s thriving tech scene, Utah is also at risk of adopting the sometimes greedy and work-obsessed culture that Silicon Valley has become known for, O’Donovan writes.

    And a little extra tech.

And a fairy-tale season in sporting history.

Leicester City has won England’s Premier League for the first time in the soccer club’s 132-year history. The club, which started the season with 5,000-1 odds, claimed the title after Chelsea and Tottenham had a 2–2 draw in London yesterday, BuzzFeed News’ David Mack writes. From underdogs to champions: Leicester has made history.
