Early last year Disney announced that Luke Evans will be playing Gaston in its upcoming live-action adaptation of Beauty and the Beast — alongside Emma Watson as Belle.
And while Evans is perfectly cast as the smarmy Gaston...
...Hugh Jackman reminded us today with his #TBT pic that perhaps the role should have gone to him.
Yup, that's Jackman dressed up as Gaston, and his resemblance to the character is uncanny. He actually played the character in the Australian production of Beauty and the Beast in 1995.
And in case you wondering whether he still has the chops to play the character, check him out singing "Gaston" alongside Evans on The Jonathan Ross Show.
