22 Back-To-School Outfits That People Now Regret Wearing

We all have that outfit we regret.

Recently, we asked the BuzzFeed Community to send us pictures of the back-to-school outfits they wore on the first day of school that they now think are ridiculous. Here are the some fashion mistakes we can all relate too:

1. This oh-so-very-late-'90s/early '00s look:

I can almost certainly guarantee that was a No Doubt or Blink-182 T-shirt. Shell necklace, butterfly clips, and a smug closed-lip smile so you couldn't see my braces. I thought I was cool AF. This would have probably been sophomore year, 2002.

2. A straight out of Regina George's closet look:

A ripped denim skirt and a top that matched my heels. All of this was topped off with a fake tan and a "Please return to Tiffany’s" dog tag.

4. A straight from the Limited Too late '90s look:

This look was so fire in 1999.

5. This outfit that is every 1999-2000 teenage guy trend in one look:

Senior year, 2000. Lets run down the list: overly gelled hair, puka shell necklace, Blink-182 T-shirt, baggy cargo pants, and chunky skater shoes. Not pictured: wallet chain and blue Quiksilver flexfit worn ridiculously askew.

This was first grade, I think. This is an all purple Angelica (from Rugrats) sweat suit WITH A MATCHING HAT. Also, I remember sweating my ass off in this!

First day of fifth grade, September 1988. I thought my outfit looked SO cool. Miniskirt over leggings, scrunched socks, white Keds, of course, and a neon paint splatter shirt. I guess it was colorful, if nothing else. And I felt pretty good about it at the time, so I guess that's what matters.

Shoulder pads? Check.

Bike shorts with a built-in under skirt? Check.

Suspenders? Check.

This was my first day of seventh grade, and I’m the one with the dark hair (on the left). I had just dyed it and wanted my dress to match. The sleeves were so long that they constantly got caught on my backpack's zippers, and I was also constantly flashing people because of the awkward dress length.

This was probably my junior year of high school and I was SO PROUD of my “fashion sense.” I wore that bandana and Beatles T-shirt many, many times that year...glad I’ve finally learned how to dress!

First day of school, sixth grade (September 2006). I thought I looked so cool and stylish, like a character from my favorite book series, The Clique. My T-shirt underneath the fully zipped cropped sweater had a pug and a cupcake on it. I dressed pretty unstylish-ly from 2004-2006, but I think this might be one of the worst fashion mistakes ever.

Here’s my eighth grade back-to-school outfit photo (we had photos the first day). This was 1996 and I was trying to grow my hair out. I’m wearing one of those super cheap and stretchy (poor quality) Delia’s dresses inspired by the '70s that went to my thighs. I had white knee-high tights to match the look and Mary Janes. Cheeeeeesy!
