Hi, hello, and welcome to another edition of “the internet is fighting about who’s right and who’s wrong”. The topic of conversation today? Ms Robyn Rihanna Fenty.
The argument all started when the queen of blinking instead of winking did an interview with Vogue to promote her new luxury fashion house, Fenty.
At the beginning of the interview, Rihanna introduces herself, and that’s where the debate began. Watch it for yourself and then we can reconvene.
So, as you probably just heard, Rihanna pronounces her own name as so: REE-ANNA.
However, if you’re from America, you probably pronounce Rihanna like this: REE-AH-NA.
And now some people are in an existential crisis as they realise they’ve been pronouncing Rihanna’s name wrong this whole time.
A lot of people were like: “Who’s we?”
Which is when the UK vs. US war began.
Some knew full well how to say Rihanna’s name but chose to stick to their own version anyway.
There was a little confusion when people began pulling up receipts, claiming Rihanna was pronouncing her name differently in various songs.
There was even a poll, which was almost too close to call.
At the end of the day though, Rihanna probably knows how to say her own name better than any of us.
BUT I’M NOT DONE YET! The whole debate got me wondering how people say Ariana Grande’s name.
Is it A-REE-AH-NA?
Or do you pronounce it AH-REE-AH-NA?
I’ve just gotta know what y’all think. The comments are down below, you know what to do!
