Those of us who remember Jim Henson's 1982 masterpiece The Dark Crystal can easily recall how absolutely gorgeous AND horrifying it was.
Well, today we received our first look at the highly anticipated prequel series coming to Netflix, The Dark Crystal: Age Of Resistance, and it is art in MOTION:
As mentioned above, the 10-part series will act as a prequel to the events of the original film, and follow three Gelflings — Rian (Taron Egerton), Brea (Anya Taylor-Joy), and Deet (Nathalie Emmanuel) — who are living in the gorgeous world of Thra.
When the Gelfling gang discovers that the evil Skeksis — aka these terrifying vulture-looking things — have been lying to them for years about their sinister plans, a rebellion is formed to stop them.
It's basically The Lord of the Rings meets Sesame Street, plus all of the coolest practical effects ever...and I'm obsessed with it.
